The executive director of Good Hope Hospital will be taking his fundraising efforts to new heights – by skydiving from 10,000ft.
Simon Jarvis and his son Daniel are taking on the hair-raising challenge to help fund support offered to patients being treated at the Sutton Coldfield hospital.
The hospital charity funds a huge range of projects every year that help provide support to patients, their families, and staff - from cutting edge research, state-of-the-art equipment and family support roles, to distraction games for children and wellbeing activities for patients.
Simon (pictured) said: “It will be an incredible day, I think. Although I’m petrified of heights, I’m conquering my fears and raising money for an incredibly worthy cause.
“The support that Good Hope Hospital Charity gives to the hospital is second to none, it really is and the work they do makes a huge difference to patients and staff alike.
“The staff at Good Hope are a team I am immensely proud off. My admiration for the care that they give to their patients and the team spirit they display is what prompted me to take on this challenge.”
Charlotte Schofield, director of fundraising at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “Fundraisers like Simon and Daniel make a huge difference, thanks to their support hospital gets a little bit easier for patients and their families.
“As a Charity our mission is to provide support ‘Over and Above’ what the NHS can offer, this means taking away some of the stress, and providing home comfort, and a bit of peace where we can for patients, and families, as well as helping to get research and new equipment off the ground, to benefit future patients, and give hope.”
The hospital charity has a range of fundraising events every year.
There’s still time to sign up for an abseil or skydive. For more details and to sign up, email charities@uhb.nhs.uk.
