Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council and Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID have joined forces to build What’s On Sutton Coldfield, the go-to website for what’s happening across the Royal Town.

What’s On Sutton Coldfield is a collaborative project between the BID and Town Council - the businesses and venues of Sutton are being urged to utilise this free platform as a virtual shop window for their reopening plans and future events.

Councillor Simon Ward, Leader of Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, said: “We all know that our Royal Town is a great place to live but up until now we haven’t had a way to shout about all the great things that make it so special. What’s On Sutton Coldfield will do just this and help shine a spotlight on the breadth of events and activities across the town as we begin to emerge from lockdown.  The Town Council wants to be at the forefront of banging the drum for Royal Sutton Coldfield and this is another great way to do this.”

Work has already begun to initially showcase the best of what the town centre has to offer, and plans are to expand What’s On Sutton Coldfield to include the other local centres and places of interest across the town, celebrating what makes Royal Sutton Coldfield a great place to live and encouraging residents and visitors to explore local venues, events and offers.

As businesses across the Royal Town reopen following the Covid-19 lockdown, What’s On Sutton Coldfield is inviting locals to provide the very latest information on where’s open and how they plan to enable visitors to enjoy the town safely.

The new brand will start appearing over the coming weeks in a range of places including an interactive website launching in July (WhatsOnSuttonColdfield.co.uk), on the popular printed ‘What’s On Guide’, and across social media channels including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @suttonwhatson. Information on and registering for Sutton Card, the BID’s free-to-use town centre voucher scheme, will also be rebranded as part of What’s On Sutton Coldfield.

The website will feature regularly updated information on events and offers, help people plan great days out across the town such as how to explore Sutton Park, and the town centre in one trip, as well as featuring articles on new openings, independent businesses, historic attractions and generally encouraging people to discover something new.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, added, “We’re delighted to reveal Sutton Coldfield’s new go-to website and launch ‘What’s On Sutton Coldfield’ alongside the Town Council.

“This is the first time we’ve had a dedicated resource for Sutton Coldfield, that recognises, promotes and celebrates the businesses, services, and events taking place in our community.

“Having this single brand identity to promote the town, and in this first phase the town centre, will support businesses and cultural venues emerge from the coronavirus-enforced pause in activity by helping people plan their day and get out and about, safely, as lockdown eases.

“The platform the BID and Town Council are building will also provide a sustainable way of promoting events from summer festivals to festive light switch-ons for years to come using both on and offline tools.

“We’re encouraging town centre businesses to let us know about the plans they’re busy putting in place no matter how small they may be, from offers and events to one off activities and national days, we want to hear from you, this is your resource.”
