Simpsons Gin Bar was transported back to the 1920s as dozens of locals donned glamorous Great Gatsby outfits to raise money for children’s charity YMCA Sutton Coldfield.

The sold-out event which took place in the speakeasy-style bar, was the first of several charity events taking place to support Simpsons’ chosen charity and to give something back to the community.

Simpsons owner and Sutton Coldfield Chamber committee member Anne-Marie Simpson said: “It was a brilliant night and a fantastic way to start the festive season. As a Sutton business, we’re delighted to be able to support a local charity and the work they do with young people is incredible.”

With prohibition punch, 1920s-style music, flapper dresses and dapper gents, the evening was a roaring success with a total of £631 raised to support disadvantaged young people in Sutton.

Anita Ellis, marketing and business development manager at the YMCA, said: “We are so thrilled to have been chosen as Simpsons’ nominated charity.

“It’s wonderful to be working with a local Sutton Business and events like this really highlight the benefit of local organisations working together.

“It was great to see so many people getting into the spirit of the evening and we’d like to thank everyone who bought tickets and made the evening such a success.”
