The appointment follows a six-month review of electrical contractors, assessing key areas including value for money, knowledge and understanding of individual school environments, reliability and standards of workmanship.

Following the review, CPI was selected to provide electrical works across the Trust for the remainder of 2026 and throughout 2027, 2028 and 2029.

Under the arrangement, CPI will take responsibility for key areas of electrical compliance across the school estate, including five-year Fixed Wire Testing and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), annual Emergency Lighting testing, associated remedial works and wider reactive electrical support.

The approach is designed to provide greater consistency across multiple schools, reducing reliance on numerous contractors while improving long-term visibility and management of planned and statutory compliance requirements.

CPI will also support a broader compliance model within additional schools, covering services including electrical compliance, fire and life safety systems, PAT testing, access control and CCTV support, alongside network cabling and infrastructure support where required.

A central part of the service will be CPI’s focus on ensuring compliance inspections lead to action.

Wherever practical and authorised, remedial requirements will be progressed efficiently rather than remaining outstanding for extended periods following inspection.

The service will also incorporate photographic job sheets, improved digital site information and clearer visibility of completed and outstanding works, helping individual schools and the wider Trust maintain a more structured picture of estate compliance.

Chris Bagnall, director of Certified Pro Installs Ltd, said: “This is a hugely significant moment for CPI and one we are incredibly proud of.

“We have supported the client for the past three years, so to receive this level of long-term commitment following a detailed review of value, school knowledge and workmanship means a great deal to our entire team.

“Education environments require a very different approach to general commercial maintenance.

“It is not simply about completing a job or carrying out an inspection; it is about understanding how schools operate, planning around teaching and learning, maintaining safeguarding standards and ensuring compliance issues are properly managed through to completion.

“Our aim has always been to become a genuine extension of our clients’ estates teams rather than simply another contractor.

“This commitment gives us the opportunity to build on the relationships we have already developed and provide greater consistency, accountability and long-term visibility across multiple school environments.

“For a Midlands-based business, securing a commitment of this nature through to 2029 is a major milestone and a real credit to our engineers, office team and everyone who has contributed to the service over the past three years.”
