As if setting up a new business during lockdown wasn’t enough of a challenge, Lexicomm’s Anita Ellis is facing her fear of falling as she takes part in a charity sky dive later this month.

The sky dive which takes place on 17 July is to raise money and awareness for Acacia Family Support, a small Sutton Coldfield charity that provides support to families across Birmingham experiencing pre and postnatal depression or anxiety.

Anita (pictured) will be jumping from 13,000 ft alongside 15 other supporters and is hoping to raise thousands for the cause.

She said: “So many parents go through post-natal depression alone, but Acacia can offer them a lifeline. It’s so important to raise awareness for small charities so that families know what support is out there.

“Having previously worked for a charity, I know how challenging fundraising can be, especially when traditional events can’t go ahead as planned.

“And, after throwing myself into a new business last year, I decided I could face my fear of falling and throw myself out of a plane!”

Kate Davarzadeh, community fundraising offer for Acacia, is overwhelmed by the support shown so far, adding: “We are so grateful to everyone taking part and their fundraising efforts.

“Post-Covid, we are seeing a big increase in the number of families needing support. We’re so glad that more people are reaching out to us.

“And we couldn’t keep our services going without support from the Sutton community.”
