Sutton Coldfield has been buzzing with the sound of live music during July, as the Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Business Improvement District funded the return of the annual Birmingham, Sandwell and Westside Jazz Festival to the Royal Town.

Having taken part in the annual event for 11 years, Sutton Coldfield held a packed programme of free concerts in venues across the town, including Simpsons Gin Bar, Veeru’s Bar & Grill, Slug & Lettuce, Three Tuns, Quinto, The Duke Inn, The Station, Brewhouse & Kitchen, Eleon,  and the Gracechurch Centre.

Local music-lovers enjoyed entertainment from a spectacular line-up of jazz and blues artists funded by Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District, with the likes of The Whiskey Brothers, Roy Forbes, Swing Café and The Sheila Waterfield Trio to name a few, taking to the stage.

Now in its 37th year, the popular festival took place from 16th July to 1st August, with over 200 performances across Birmingham and beyond.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said: “We have really enjoyed taking part in the Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell Jazz Festival once again. The event is an unmissable part of Birmingham’s musical calendar, and this year we hosted more live performances than ever before.”

Tim Jennings, Commercial and Development Director at festival organisers Big Bear Music, added: “The Jazz Festival enjoys a special relationship with Sutton Coldfield. Its venues and residents have an unquestionable quality.”
