Andrew Mitchell MP is working with local environment group Eco Sutton as part of the plan to develop a Community Masterplan for the Town Centre. The aim is to join forces with Gracechurch owner M&G and their architects to share ideas to proactively revive the Centre. This initiative is being led by the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council.

Eco Sutton’s Tony Whitehead says “our vision is for a greener regenerated Centre, with metro-style homes, market stalls and lively eateries in vacant large stores, tied together by an innovative Bus Loop to improve public transport and accessibility”

Andrew Mitchell MP says he supports the initiative: “I see a great opportunity for the community and business to work in partnership. We need a commercially viable plan but one that engages with the community it serves. It’s a case of reinventing the heart of the Royal Town.”

Eco Sutton’s John Heywood says: “we want to bring all members of the
community together on this, alongside the Town Council, Birmingham City and
other stakeholders. However good the ideas they won’t succeed unless
everyone gets fully behind them. Engagement is key.”
