Called in sudbury and found this place for the first time. Had the best cheese board I think I have ever had. All the cheeses were ready to eat! and the knowledge given on each one was second to none. Will be back

We stopped in here after reading other reviews and were not disappointed. The coffee was excellent and although the menu was fairly limited, we were able to have a brunch style meal. It was served promptly and by fantastic staff who were very friendly while the owner chatted with customers. The chairs did not encourage ĺingering but were comfortable enough for an hour or so. We would return.

I had salmon and scrambled eggs and was blown away by how good it was (I am very fussy do this is big praise). The person who served us (I assume the owner) was charming and his coffee fantastic. All in all a lovely ladies breakfast get together and certainly worth another visit when I am around that area. Superb. Well done to that man

If you are fed up of these coffee chains churning out mediocre beverages in a sterile environment, then you must visit David's Deli in Sudbury! Without doubt the best macchiato outside Italy, using my favourite Segafredo beans, made by David or one of his capable team. The homemade cakes are just that - homemade... by some of his loyal customers I understand, and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection.
If you want to relax in a charming and peaceful atmosphere, full of character (and I am not just talking about the owner!) then this is a must!

Indeed an oasis in Sudbury. Absolutely gorgeous coffee. Charming and helpful (also unflappable as the day we went he was on his own) host. A place to sit and spend time without tripping over a buggy or the table being knocked by marauding kidiwinks.
Keep up the good work.If you haven't tried it, please do!

On a short visit to Sudbury to see Gainsborough's House and needed refreshment. This place was recommended by the staff at Gainsborough's House and lived up to the billing. Beautiful cake, excellent coffee, friendly service all at a fair price. Would heartily endorse.

We visited after reading the Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. A very friendly welcome and peaceful atmosphere. We both ordered prawn and avocado sandwiches which were freshly made in delicious bread. Tasted great. Please note that children are not allowed in this restaurant.

What a lovely surprise to find this for a light lunch nearby to Gainsborough's House (which we had just visited).
A privately owned deli/café, with a welcome from the owner, offering freshly prepared dishes with excellent baguettes and brochette in comfortable tables and chairs and attractive furnishings all with great real personal service. Good selection of simple foods in a really good continental style which made it a superb experience. Choice of drinks, including house wine, available and to finish off any foods some of the best prepared and presented coffee. We heard others describe the omelettes as 'gorgeous', which was not surprising. Some customers were obviously' regulars'. The tea and cakes also looked tempting, so a good all day place to visit.
All we can say is 'lucky Sudbury' to have such a classy place to go.There is a bistro next door open three nights a week which must be somewhere for all to try. Hope we shall return.

It is not common in the UK but the coffee brand used here is popular in Madrid and how nice to see a real continental style crema on the top of the cup. It is quite strong but we loved it. One for real coffee lovers!
Nice pastry too and a warm welcome . So good to see a coffee shop owned by an individual who wants to offer something different from Costa/Nero et al.

A unique experience for me in this wonderfully, hospitable environment; no children, no piped music, provide a welcoming atmosphere. The delightful proprietor, David, and his super team, namely Ann and Kari, provide a consistently , warm welcome where nothing is too much trouble.
Dishes are innovative and fresh--no pre-prepared meals in this establishment!
If David provided rooms, I'd cheerfully move in !

We have been going to David's Deli since it opened. We are always sure of a great welcome, a very friendly atmosphere and fantastic customer service by owner David and his right hand member of staff Ann. The menu is always changing and you can be assured of really fresh and local ingredients being used. There are always sufficient daily papers and magazines to read, the tables are cleared quickly and it is always clean and tidy making it a very nice place to sit and while away an hour or more. We consider it to be the best little eating place in Sudbury.

I have been coming here for coffee and a bite to eat for about a year now. What is unique about this cafe is the fact that children are banned, so you can have a lovely cup of coffee and adult conversation in peace without some badly behaved brat screaming in your earhole! Plenty of reading material to choose from with good quality coffee. ( I tend to find the mocha in other coffee houses in town a little sickly) The staff are very friendly and they serve excellent homemade food ( the golden plum jam is to die for!) . You do however have a little bit of a wait once you have ordered your food, but in all fairness their has always seemed to be one person behind the till serving and cooking, so this can be forgiven. One niggle that I do have however, is that last time I visited, they didn't seem to have any cheeses in and stopped doing their lovely omelette's which I think is a real shame. David if you are reading this, bring them back! x

Had a lovely lunch. High quality products, excellent coffee and cake. Very hospitable staff. Only tiny thing - for a while there was a young man speaking very loudly on his mobile phone which was very intrusive so it would be good to have phonecalls banned!

Went on a Saturday at 10.30 for late breakfast. It was full and the owner said he was unfortunately on his own due to illness, but someone came in shortly after we arrived to help. He was very apologetic to all customers making them aware of the situation. We were not in a hurry and were keen to try the place out. It was clearly popular. We had tea and the scrambled eggs with salmon which was very tasty. Nice atmosphere, papers available to read, produce to buy, like chesse, jams, pasta etc. it is adults only no children so should be aware of this. Very friendly and will call again.

I had to comment on the fabulous Christmas hampers I got from David at the deli. I had 6 in total, 4 with port and cheese, (of which both items are lovely), and 2 large hampers with a huge variety of different products! If you're looking for something different, I can't praise these enough!!

What a wonderful place, a true gem in Sudbury. This plan ticks all the boxes , location, quality of coffee, use of fine local produce, friendly/welcoming staff, ambience, excellent menu and food cooked and prepared to the highest standards.
The ploughmans was delicious with the best chutney I've had and with some of the fine cheeses sourced from France. The omelette my wife had was one of the best she had ever had. Now we have come across this cafe we will definitely return. First class!

Found this place when visiting a friend last Sunday. Forget Starbucks and Cafe Nero, the coffee here is the best. Food is also great. My friend's sandwich was made with freshly sliced ham which she said was beautiful and I had an excellent omelette. Lovely welcome and great service from the friendly girl that served us. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere, with great food at very reasonable prices. Would recommend to all.

David you are such a star!! We love nothing more on a Saturday than a trip to David's Deli for a cup of Tea and a slice of cake. The cafe has a wonderful, almost family atmosphere. A true gem, and most definitely our favourite cafe anywhere.

The cheeses which David personally travels to France to purchase are without doubt the finest anywhere in Suffolk! Now that I live in Thailand, I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Mind you there are other compensations and some wonderful food. BUT Alas no CHEESE!
