The Early Years Department @ St Roses has gained the Bristol Standard for another year. The report stated 'The validation group felt that this was an excellent submission' with an 'inclusive creative environment' and a 'true partnership with parents'.In January we started a topic on Jobs. The children really enjoyed learning about lots of different jobs and the different people who help us. As part of the topic we had a chef in to talk about his job and show the group items he used. Also we had a Vet in to visit who did pretend operations on a toy dog and bandaged up the children's soft toys. We have also been out and about in the local community, posting letters to parents, visitng shops and going to story time at the library. Some of the children took a trip on a local bus and even sang 'The wheels on the bus' as we went round! A fire engine visited the school in March. In February we started a new topic on Space and the children have been very interested in astronauts and space rockets. They have enjoyed creating their own aliens. We visited the Planetarium in Bristol on 23rd March.

The early years have also enjoyed joining in with events that have been taking place throughout the school including health week and world book day. In health week the children played Boccia, joined in with a line dancing class and especially enjoyed going on a bouncy castle. On world book

day the group dressed up as a character in a book and joined in with an assembly. They listened to lots of stories throughout the day.
