We approached Binney and Sims in summer 2022 to design a 2 storey extension integrating a new kitchen and master bedroom. We were presented with multiple fantastic options within a few weeks of initial inquiry, and they were very responsive to our small tweaks. They possess a high level of technical competence (as well as brilliant design minds) meaning you're not left with an unbuildable design!
They clearly have well versed in dealing with council planners, and know what may or may not get approved, and how to go about it. The whole application process was handled with great aplomb despite the odd pushback, and we are thrilled to have received planning approval within 3 months. Importantly, you can easily get hold of the team for any queries. Essentially, they made our life very easy and delivered beyond expectations.

We approached Binney and Sims to design a single storey pan-tiled kitchen-diner extension to the ground floor of our house in Cambridgeshire. The existing house is a nightmare of different construction across at least 2 centuries and no 2 walls are perpendicular to each other or the ground upon which they sit. To add to the confusion, our plans also needed to get rid of a dilapidated 1980s-built conservatory. From the outset Binney and Sims were right on top of our brief. They made a thorough survey of our site and came up with a great first set of drawings. Inevitably, the visualisation that these provided gave us more to think about and prompted a rethink of our original approach. As our plans evolved we became doubtful how things would eventually look on the ground and, so, Binney and Sims produced a 3-D view to help us visualise the ideas involved. When it came to dealing with the Parish Council over Planning Permission and their muppet objections about bat nests, underground water courses and the duck pond half a mile away Binney and Sims took it all on so we didn't have to. They ran with all this throughout and didn't charge us a penny over their originally quoted fee. Every one of our many e-mails was answered politely, thoroughly and quickly. Couldn't have asked for a better, more responsive service and absolutely delighted to be moving forward with the dream plan for our home.

Great advice and examples of previous work given to us when meeting Katie to arrange for our extension and garage conversion. Plans completed and returned to us in a timely manner. Very helpful at providing practical solutions for the extension to our Ground Floor layout. The garage conversion is complete and we are looking forward starting the extension later this year. Would happily recommend to others.

We have used Binney and Sims for two extensions on different houses. Katie provided excellent drawings and was very helpful suggesting builders that she knew would carry out professional work. Binney and Sims sorted all of the planning applications and were very helpful with any queries during the process. Very user friendly including making last minute alterations to drawings when requested. Have already and would continue to recommend the company.

Today we received our planning permissions Approval, still early days but it was great working with Binney & Sims Ltd. Not only did they provide the diagrams for our extension but they explained the process end 2 end, provided estimates for builds and keeping us updated on the progress of our planning application. Being a female novice at needing to build an medium extension so that my husband and I could move in to look after my mother, I knew I had to completely trust the architect. After one phone call and an initial meeting, I knew Katie was the one for the job. She explained everything in detail, in addition gave me a folder with information explaining each stage which initially I couldn't even bring myself to read (it wasn't the content, which is explained so simply but taking on the project felt so daunting). This folder though has become my bible as I look up each stage as we progress through this journey. Katie knew exactly what we needed design wise and was very patient with us when we kept calling to change certain areas. She and her team were at the end of the phone and email and they responded promptly throughout this Covid nightmare. She is very bubbly, professional and passionate. Both my husband are anal about exceptional customer service which is hard to find unfortunately – but we found it in Katie and her team. I trust her guidance 100% and have gone from being daunted to being very excited about this project.
