Following the huge success of the inaugural walk, which raised more than £30,000 for hospice care in 2025, this year’s event promises to be even more special.
The Shimmer Walk is a 5 km sponsored night-time walk designed to bring together friends, families, colleagues and supporters to honour the lives of loved ones and raise vital funds for Severn Hospice services. Participants are encouraged to dress in bright, shimmering outfits and light up the route with sparkle and joy as they walk through the enchanting outdoor surroundings.
The walk starts and finishes at Charlton School in Wellington, with the route taking in the beautiful Apley Woods, illuminated with thousands of lights and fun themed zones along the way.
Walkers can pause at the hospice gardens to light a candle in memory of their loved ones, creating a reflective and touching moment within the event.
The atmosphere blends community fun with heartfelt remembrance — making it a joyful and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
Participants in the Shimmer Walk receive:
An exclusive Shimmer Walk T-shirt
A glow-in-the-dark necklace to wear along the route
A finisher’s medal as a keepsake of their achievement.
Fundraising forms an essential part of the event, helping to support the compassionate care Severn Hospice provides to patients and their families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.
