It is the 20th year for the initiative, which offers hands-on learning about where our food comes from and how farmers care for soil, wildlife, and the environment while feeding communities. Over 3.25 million people have visited over 2,000 farmers since Open Farm Sunday started in 2006.
The Oteley Estate will be educating visitors on farming life at their historic Ellesmere estate. There will be a farm trail giving information about what crops are in the field, a meet the experts area, and the farm’s highland cattle, shorthorns and saddleback pigs will be on show. The event is free to attend and will run from 10am – 3pm on June 7th.
“This is a great opportunity to learn about all the wonderful work that happens on local farms,” said Clare Mainwaring from the Oteley Estate. “Here at Oteley we’re passionate about responsible farming, feeding the local community, and sharing our knowledge, so we love getting involved with Open Farm Sunday. Please come and join us, and make a day of it with a visit to our on-site café and farm shop.”
