Shrewsbury Town Council invites the public to join a special Service of Commemoration marking the 86th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Taking place at the War Memorial in The Quarry, the service will remember the RAF personnel who fought in the Battle of Britain, as well as the thousands of people who supported the defence of Britain - from radar operators and ground crews to aircraft workers, plotters and controllers.
The Battle of Britain was a decisive moment in the Second World War, with RAF personnel from Britain and around the world playing their part in defending the country against the German Luftwaffe. This poignant service provides an opportunity for the community to come together in gratitude and remembrance, honouring those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
10:30am - Guests are asked to arrive at the War Memorial in The Quarry.
10:45am - The parade of RAF personnel leaves Quarry Place, followed by the Mayoral Party and VIPs.
10:50am - Service of Commemoration begins.
11:00am - A Two Minute Silence will be observed, with a flypast expected, weather permitting.
11:02am - Wreath laying.
11:15am - Closing prayers, followed by RAF personnel marching back out of The Quarry.

The event is open to everyone and offers a chance for the people of Shrewsbury to come together to remember, reflect and pay tribute to those who served.
