Sunday 13th September 2026 | From 10.30am
War Memorial, The Quarry, Shrewsbury
Organised by Shrewsbury Town Council, the event marks the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and will remember the RAF aircrew who defended Britain during the summer and autumn of 1940, as well as the thousands of people who supported them on the ground. The service will also honour those who have served in the RAF and Armed Forces since.
Members of the public are invited to gather at the War Memorial in The Quarry from 10.30am. A parade of RAF personnel will leave Quarry Place at 10.45am, followed by the Mayoral Party and VIP guests, before the Service of Commemoration begins at 10.50am.
At 11am, a two-minute silence will be observed and a flypast is expected, weather permitting. This will be followed by wreath laying at 11.02am and closing prayers at approximately 11.15am, after which RAF personnel will march out of The Quarry.
