Looking for a romantic evening, a celebration or relaxing break then consider this hotel. The evocative and cosy restaurant offers interesting and well prepared dishes (cheese board, sea bass and steak were outstanding) served by attentive yet not intrusive staff. Bedroom 16 was small but perfectly adequate (some special rooms in the main house) I particularly appreciated the power shower and large wardrobe.
Special mention has to go to the staff who dealt with everything with a smile, patience and a can do attitude. Thanks one and all.

Went here for a family wedding and as far as the hotel's contribution to affairs was concerned it was all good. They seemed to be able to keep the wedding party and other guests apart which was good for both groups.

The food was of very good quality for our wedding breakfast and the morning breakfast was pretty good too.

The building is worth a visit although I didn't see any lifts so better check if you have walking difficulties.

Very popular with our visiting foreign cousins and it's easy to see why.

The Venue itself is a spectacular backdrop for a wedding. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day so the ceremony was outside but inside also looks lovely.
The staff are really great at making the day go without a hitch and responded to every question or request very quickly. The food is outstanding, the rooms in the main building are very old and are amazing. The rooms in the new bit are still very nice.
We used all of the services recommended by the hotel and cannot fault any of them.
The photographers were great, Disco was good and fireworks were a really nice touch that no one expected.
All in all a fantastic day made that little more special by Malcolm and his team. Mel and Dave who looked after us all day need a special mention too, if i could name all the staff individually I would.
I have noticed a couple of bad or mediocre reviews on here, we had a large percentage of the hotel booked on the Friday and Saturday and everyone I spoke to said what a fantastic place Albright Hussey was.
It is more expensive than budget hotels but it is on a different level completely.
Thank you for making our very special day go without a hitch.
Andy.

We stayed for two nights on the 22nd and 23rd May in the Hussey suite and everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. The room was amazing - uneven creaky floorboards, wonderful carved post bed and we felt as though we had stepped back in time. The spa bath was a more modern addition but has to be seen to appreciate it's size. The food was beyond reproach and the barman kept us amused. We were thoroughly rested and relaxed after our short stay. Also we had the added bonus of having breakfast in our room on the second day and were able to watch Escape To the Country being filmed in the garden from our beautiful antiquated window. The receptionist was really helpful and amusing and all in all we couldn't have asked for a better holiday.

Cannot express how good the venue and staff were on our wedding day, absolutely brilliant from start to finish, food was excellent and Paul the manager was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble to make the day perfect, highly recommended, beautiful venue, absolutely faultless

Classy place and geared up for weddings etc but rooms overpriced. Nice touches like homemadebiscuits in room but they didn't really taste of anything. Noisy at night but I suppose unavoidable as everything is so close together. Get the impression that costs are being saved house wine £19.50 but not great quality etc.

Nice little hotel we stayed at whilst at a wedding here. Excellent function room and bar area. Breakfast was also very good. If you're at a function here it is ideal. Room was clean and of a good standard. Very good size bathroom. Easily missed from the main road so keep an eye out

Just spent a weekend break here. Lovely place. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Felt very welcome. Ate on restaurant for evening meal and breakfast and found a good selection of food which was beautifully cooked and presented. Although there was a wedding at the hotel we were not inconvenienced in any way. A good experience..

A very nice wedding venue, on the whole, great attentive staff who make things go so smoothly and really take the pressure off, looking after even the smallest details.

One small issue is that the family room where most people would choose to stay with younger children is right above the function room and toilets. It is a lovely room, in really a suite, not a room and has everything you would want when travelling with the family, but the noise levels are very high, if there is a function on downstairs. (I measured levels at 48db average with a 58db peak in the bedroom) Please do not let this put you off booking this venue just be aware that the family room is very noisy and you may wish to pick a different room if travelling with small children.

We stayed in the Hussey suite for a couple of nights. It was well appointed and full of character. The floor is slightly uneven and there is a step up to the en suite which didn't bother us. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was perfectly cooked. The service was great. The was a wedding in the other part of the hotel but we didn't hear it. Would recommend.

We have just spent two nights back at Albright Hussey in the old part of building which we love. It is 20 years since we last stayed with our young son. It is lovely to see the same family running this hotel and we remember on our first visit for lunch being shown around the bedrooms around 25 years ago before they were even open. I would always recommend the old part of the house to stay through choice. We had two evening meals, in the beautiful dining room which we much enjoyed. We won't leave it so long next time. It was extremely relaxing. Thank you.

Visited to attend a function last weekend and albeit we found the venue to be full of character with lovely views and gardens we found the food during our evening to let it down - very disappointing!
Bedroom refreshments were also poor as neither of us drink hot drinks and there were two tiny, self packaged biscuits which were tasteless
Nice views but nothing local to walk out to really

Arrived late afternoon on friday 31 march hotel looked lovely from the outside nice to walk round the grounds and see the ducks, black swans and the horses. Check-in was quick and hassle-free. Room was easy to find and was cleaned to a high standard and had everything i needed for a two night stay plenty of tea and coffee some handmade biscuits, mints, hairdryer, tv, en-suite facilities and a big comfy bed and lovely views out onto fields at the side of the hotel overlooking the carpark.

We didn't eat here the first night but we had a few drinks in the lounge bar where we met Malcolm one of the waiters who was so nice and friendly and who went out of his way to entertain my nephew Joshua by finding him cardboard boxes, stirrers and napkins to play with. Breakfast the following morning was lovely and just what we needed to keep us going throughout the day and again Malcolm was on shift and noticed that one of our party wasn't feeling 100% due to a dose of the cold and after chatting away to us asked if they would like a hot fresh lemon and honey drink to help soothe his throat - lovely guy and fantastic customer service.

We had a wedding reception on the saturday evening in the main function room. The food was lovely, very tasty and well presented - everyone had a great time and enjoyed their weekend away!!

Thanks Albright Hussey Manor Hotel - great hotel with friendly, hard-working staff and lovely surroundings :-)

There are a group of us who, each year, have a weekend away. Friday night is a smart casual meal and Saturday night is a black tie event. We usually take over a small hotel with about 23 bedrooms. The accommodation has to be of a certain standard and the food has to be top drawer. My wife and I have been party to this for some 6 years and this must be one of the best venues thus far.
Friday's evening meal was excellent but the portions were perhaps over-generous. The service was superb with the manager assisting with his humorous asides.
Saturday's meal was an excellent banquet - the wine sauce on the Rossini was sensational -.
Breakfasts were standard buffet breakfasts and very acceptable.
All the staff were cheerful and helpful and the hotel was spotlessly clean.
The best room in the hotel is The Hussey Suite, and if you look at the front elevation on the web site both the top windows in the black and white portion of the picture are in that suite. Apart from an enormous four poster bed there were 12 other pieces of furniture still with plenty of room. In addition, in the adjoining en suite apart from the normal WC, basin, and bidet, there was a large jaccuzi bath within a four-poster setting.
From the web site you will see that the building dates from the fifteen hundreds. The owners have combined this comfortable and ancient building seamlessly with modern comforts.
To the side is a modern but very sympathetically constructed extension with more modern rooms.

We were a group of 40 and stayed for 2 nights. 20 couples all arriving at times from 3pm to 8pm My first impression on arrival was, what an AMAZING looking venue. The check in was most welcoming with the young lady offering to carry our (my wife and I) cases up to our room. We had a standard double room with everything we required. Our (the 40 of us) first nights evening meal we had pre booked from a choice of 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts, a number of the party had ordered the rib eye steak (some rare, medium or well done) and we all got served at the same time!, mine was excellent and similar comments were made from the rest of the party. All of the waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. The wine list was extensive at sensible prices.

After a good nights sleep, a hearty breakfast buffet style but kippers and haddock were available on request which some of the party had. The restaurant is set in the old part of the hotel and oozes character. We were leaving our room to spend the day out when a member of staff who was working in the corridor asked us our plans, she then informed us of the best way to get there and attractions while we were there.

The afternoon was very pleasantly spent in the lovely gardens taking advantage of the bar, where the staff delivered our drinks outside. That evening meal was a 5 course treat which was delicious and extremely well presented.

The hotel is charming, the food delicious and the staff more than willing to go the extra mile, examples, one of the gentlemen of our party said he had left his dinner suit behind and enquired from Malcolm the manager where he could hire one, Malcolm quickly looked at him and said you look a similar size to myself I'll phone my wife to press mine and I will loan you mine! Again one of our party had an accident and ended in hospital, as a result it meant the the husband of the lady who had the accident would not be able to dine that evening, we informed the receptionist of this who immediately said were has the gentleman left his car (some of the town car parks are closed at night) if he phones us we will collect him regardless of the time and we will make some food available for him. I don't think there are that many hotels where the staff would even think of these things.

Also many congratulations to one of the reception staff who is getting married in August who gave me a "Gold Star" for being the first to check out and hand in my room key which shows that service with a sense of humour does work!

Would I recommend the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel? My wife and I had already booked to go back in August if that answers the question.

Many thanks for a lovely weekend.

Just a quick review as I have reviewed this hotel 3 years ago, having returned for a special occasion I was a bit worried it would not be as good as it was last time, but I did not need worry as it was just as fantastic as last time if not better. There was a wedding taking place and we did not have any interruptions to our stay because of this, the room was fantastic, food to die for and the staff were brilliant once again especially a lady called Zoe who certainly knows all about great customer service. Thank you Albright, you have done it again.

A welcome return to this venue, but this time we stayed over, for two nights. and a very memorable stay it was. Again we tried the taster menu, this is highly recommended as was the food we ate on our second night. Breakfast is just fantastic, makes the most of good quality locally sourced ingredients. Staff as are attentive, friendly and helpful and you are made to feel very special. During our visit the hotel hosted a birthday party and a wedding the following day and at no time did these celebrations cause us any inconvenience even if some of the wedding guests apparently were still celebrating at 5am.? the next morning.
Some "S" words help describe this hotel;
Spacious, yes our room was indeed spacious.
Spotless, yes in all areas.
Scrumptious, again the food is wonderful.
Scenic, from our room we had views over the surrounding lush countryside.
Special, the whole ambiance, all of the above, certainly do make you feel very special. A return visit, most certainly and the sooner the better.

We stayed in the hotel 20-22 Feb 2017. On arrival, we received a warm welcome. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, particularly in the bar & restaurant (Malcolm & Zoe). We had a good recently decorated room which was clean and comfortable (included a four poster bed). Breakfast offered the usual range of cold and hot dishes of good quality.

We had a Travelzoo 1 night deal voucher for two people which included: superior room, breakfast and a 5 course tasting menu for dinner. Because the deal worked out cheaper than booking a room for a second night with breakfast and dinner, we got 2 of the Travelzoo deal vouchers and stayed 2 nights. We were advised on booking that the 5 course tasting menu would be the same both nights, but we thought that would be ok. On arriving at the restaurant for dinner, we were offered a glass of Champagne (or any other drink) as this was part of the deal - nice surprise as we weren't aware of that. The 5 course menu was very good, but the manager (Malcolm) was concerned about us having the same again the next night and offered free choice of the a la carte menu. We decided to stick with the 5 course menu. He said he would speak to the chef about changing some of the dishes. The second night, Malcolm informed us that the chef had prepared a completely different 5 course tasting menu, which turned out to be absolutely delicious. For me, that was a sign of a really good hotel. They aim to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I'd have no hesitation in booking there again.

I have been staying at the hotel for the last 18 months on average between 2 and 4 nights per week. I can honestly say that the staff team to name a few: the general manager Malcolm, Zoe, Vicky, Liam, Javier, David, Terri, Kirstyn, Amy and Heidi are exceptional in every way. Being a female living in hotels in the week can be rather daunting but I love staying at the Albright, so much so my husband and I have stayed when on holiday. The team are personable without being obtrusive, they remember little things that make my stay so much easier. The food is to a very high standard and the rooms are so very comfortable what is not to like. Thank you

We stayed here for one night on a Travelzoo offer of £139 for bed and breakfast and a 5 course tasting menu. This was mentioned quite loudly on several occasions! The hotel is clearly a well used wedding venue, and is set up for this. There is the original Tudor house, a 17th century with large panelled restaurant room and a modern addition with bedrooms. The room was nice, not large but okay for a weekend. Room 8 had views of the countryside but caught the wind going round the building. As it was a gusty night we were both woken up by howling wind noise a couple of times. Walls are quite thin, we could hear every word of a conversation in the corridor so noisy guests may be a problem. The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The 5 course tasting dinner, with free glass of champagne, was delicious. Much of the food is local, the beef was beautiful and cooked to perfection. Even my vegetable phobic husband ate the celeriac and spinach soup. Breakfast was generous, the local bacon was delicious but as the food was kept in hot containers it did get slightly over cooked. Masses of toast, which was brought without checking what we wanted. Less toast but investing in a cappuccino machine would be my advice. Plenty of choice in cereals, juice etc. After breakfast we walked round the local battlefield site and went to 1403, an exhibition room about the battle and a lovely farmshop and cafe. We managed to find some of the bacon we had had for breakfast. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Spent two nights here for our wedding anniversary. Very romantic and full of character. We stayed midweek in a main house suit and although a little old fashioned it made up in atmosphere. Dining was very good in the cozy restaurant and bar.
Our only concern was that it might be a bit noisy when there is a wedding on.
We cant understand how some reviews say it is dirty and scruffy and wonder if they are writing about the same hotel

Went with a friend for afternoon tea in January. Found the temperature to be on the cool side in the room we were allocated. The sandwiches and scones were adequate but we got what we were given rather than having a choice. The waiter was very foreign and stiff in his approach. Didn't enjoy it very much and it was expensive for what was received.

Invited here for a party on a Saturday night so we stayed an extra night and were not disappointed. The whole building was spotless, the public rooms very atmospheric. The bedroom and as far as I could tell and the adjoining rooms were newly refurbished to a very high standard. The meal provided for our party of 18 on the Saturday evening was absolutely wonderful. The staff from receptionists to cleaners and waiters were all very friendly and worked well together in a very friendly atmosphere.
The breakfasts were well presented with a large choice and very appetising. Will certainly stay here again if visiting the area.
