My wife and I recently stopped here for an overnight catch-up with some friends. We chose a Sunday evening since Saturday's tend to be expensive and booked up due to weddings. We spent the afternoon on the sun terrace, had a very nice meal in the restaurant and a good breakfast the following morning. The hotel had automatically upgraded our room which was very good of them.
This was a good value short break and both couples really enjoyed it, made better by very friendly and professional staff. We will certainly consider going back at some point in the future.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Due to the location you would need a car.

Upon arrival we were checked quickly into our room. Our room was an executive room and my only complaints was that there was no aircon/fan, and that the tv was very small.

Breakfast was the typical fayre but was really delicious, and i would not skip it.

The hotel has a lot of charm and character, is reasonably pricedand the staff are definitely an asset.

We stayed en route to Chester and picked Albright as it was half way and looked lovely. We weren't disappointed. As soon as we drove up the the track from the main road and saw the building we knew it was going to be lovely and secluded.
There was a wedding in progress but we were checked in quickly and efficiently by Kirsty.
We had a super meal in the beautiful old restaurant and then sat out and watched the sunset in the distance. We were looked after so well by Malcolm; nothing was too much trouble.
We slept so well as it's so quiet and peaceful and then had a perfect breakfast.
We will be back. Thank you all.

Brilliant hotel with bags of character and great hospitality. We stayed in the Hussey Room, which was wonderful. The staff were fabulous, friendlly and attentive.

We had the wedding reception of our daughter and her husband.
And i can honestly say this place is just perfect from the friendly and helpful staff on the frontline (bar staff/ waitresses etc.) right through to the back of house staff who you dont see but are just as important.
The food was excellent, function room prepared to perfection, we stayed over night and the bedrooms and breakfast didn't let us down either add this to the setting and as i said at the start this place is perfect.

We stayed at Albright Hussey for my birthday weekend. The hotel is lovely, hopelessly clean. The staff are friendly, approachable, gave us advice on where to visit that was pet friendly as we had our dog with us. We arrived early but our room was ready, it was in the newer block but was a very good size room with a view over the fields looking towards the Wrekin. We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely, waiting on staff were great. I can see why so many have their weddings here, it's perfect, beautiful gardens, little moat, black swans. Out side bar for sunny days. It was about ten minutes drive into Shrewsbury & a car drive to the nearest pub but as we had been out all day both days we were there we were happy just to stay in the bar after our evening meals & chill with a glass of wine.

The hotel is in a great country side setting to which eight of us stayed overnight to celebrate a family members birthday, we were well looked after and made to feel welcome by all the staff. The evening dinner menu, food quality and wine choice was excellent with superb service from Javie in the restaurant.

After dinner we sat talking in the lounge bar and enjoyed late evening drinks with no one rushing us off to our rooms, Thanks to you all from all of us. .

Malcolm the manager could not be more accommodating. He single handedly makes this place worth going back to.

On some days, the reception staff could be smiling and be more engaging.

Really excellent cooked breakfast.

As the rooms and bathrooms are dated. The room maids could make more of an effort to ensure that the bath tubs, bathroom floors, carpets, lampshades, etc are all spotlessly clean.

Attention to detail is always so important.

Lovely surroundings and open countryside.

We stayed last weekend for my husband’s 60th birthday. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and enjoyed the history and quirkiness of it. Staff at the hotel are very attentive and friendly. They took the time to adbise us on places of interest. Breakfast was good and plentiful. I would recommend a visit.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel this week for one night and had a very nice stay. The deluxe room (Hussey Suite) was really nice with a large 4 poster bed and massive spa bath. The view from the room was over the gardens and to the fields beyond. We have absolutely no complaints even though it took a while to get wet under the 'shower'. This is forgivable in such an old building and didn't detract at all from the quality of our stay. Yes, some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of a spruce up but all in all we found the hotel to be very good value for money compared to the chain hotels nearby. Malcolm as the head barman and maitre d was excellent, very welcoming, attentive and with a very cheery attitude. The food was very good and service during dinner was spot on. Breakfast the following morning was slightly strange but not in a negative way. We opted for the continental breakfast which was to include cold meats and cheeses but, unusually, these were not self-service options. It really didn't matter in the end because the selection we received was generous in size and a nice mixture. Perhaps one improvement could be the provision of bread/biscuits to go with the meats and cheeses. I am sure this would have been available if we had asked but it does seem pretty obvious you will need them. We greatly enjoyed our stay (it was my wife's birthday) and will certainly be back next time we visit the area.

We stayed for 1 night following a shopping day in Shrewsbury. The hotel is set in lovely countryside and is a beautiful old building. We were given a very warm welcome by the receptionist, which was very nice. We did not realise on booking that our room would be in the annex, this was not a problem though as the door to the annex is opposite to the restaurant. I would have preferred to be in the old building though.
The room was fine, called a bijoux room ? There is plenty of wardrobe space, a chair and desk and table. What I did appreciate was 2 bottles of water and a dish of sweets, very nice touch. There was also ample tea and coffee facilities.
The main problem with the room was the bathroom. The door opened inwards but not wide enough as a new P shaped bath had been fitted which restricted the door opening leaving quite a small space to get through as the sink was just inside the door. I would imagine guests larger than us would have a major problem.

Breakfast was in the magnificent dining room and consisted of cereals, sliced melon, grapefruit, prunes and juices with croissants and cakes. There was also a hot buffet of Sausage, black pudding, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and scrambled eggs. I should have asked for a fried egg which i assume could have been ordered as I do not like scrambled eggs with my breakfast. Toast, tea and coffee were served to the table. All in all a good meal - well cooked.

I feel bad for leaving a mediocre review on this hotel but I’m committed to reviewing fairly and consistently during my 300 plus reviews

The hotel is in lovely settings and the staff couldn’t try harder, the food is pretty good too. The steak was excellent

The following constructive criticism is as follows

The rooms don’t feel like a quality hotel room. The doors are too thin and the decoration and furniture is slightly off par and the TV is too small and it just feels a little 1980s. I was in the new block of rooms for reference

The staff are too friendly for my liking. This is subjective and I appreciate others find this excellent customer service. I found it a little overbearing but I appreciated the intent and it was very friendly

The overall experience feels, to me, too much like I’m staying in someone’s spare room (which is nice in a way because it feels like being a guest in somebody’s house) but for me I’m looking for a high quality environment to relax in and be anonymous

Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, did however like the people and their enthusiasm

The hotel is beautiful, set in the countryside just north of Shrewsbury. The receptionist greeted us very warmly (even when our puppy had an excited widdle in the reception and she insisted that they would clean it for us!). The room was spacious and extremely clean, the added touches of a bowl of sweets a well appointed information book and all the toiletries that you would expect. The bathroom was light and clean with a bath to fit a small family. The solid wood frame bed had a very comfortable mattress that gave a good nights sleep. The bar and restaurant were cosy, the food was well presented and delicious. The service we received from staff was second to none, all staff were friendly and approachable and absolutely professional.

The building itself is gorgeous, the grounds are well maintained with a pretty garden and the surrounding views are idyllic.

My husband and I came for a second visit to the Hotel in February as we enjoyed our first visit so much. We only stayed B&B this time as we were eating out in Shrewsbury that evening. Again we were not disappointed. The service as usual was impeccable, and the staff as attentive as ever. We stayed in The Royalist Suite which is a truly magnificent room with an enormous spa bath and stunning views. We simply cannot fault the hotel or the staff who always go the extra mile to make us feel welcome and an extra special thank you to Paul for getting us back on Saturday evening...and to the staff for the late night draft Guinness. Nothing is ever too much for any of them 😁...and of course it goes without saying that we will be returning very soon.

Visited for Sunday lunch. The location and venue are superb. The staff were excellent, fantastic service that couldn't be faulted. However very disappointed with the food.
I ordered a fish main and my partner beef. The fish itself was well cooked but bland, the fennel that accompanied it was tasteless and there was not enough sauce, just a spoonful on top of the fish so the dish was very dry.
My partners beef was OK, however, that too was very dry as there was just a spoonful of gravy on the meat.
I would not return for Sunday lunch again.

Very pleasant location, lovely room although comings and goings in the middle of the night did keep us awake.
We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant the first night. The waiter thankfully found us a quieter corner and the food was excellent if expensive. The wine was also superb but again a little pricy I thought. Restaurant is cosy but beautifully laid out.

The second night was got a cab into Shrewsbury which was amazing value (organised by the helpful staff), and what a great place Shrewsbury is to eat and drink.

Will stay here again, as despite the expensive food and drink the room was great value.

My wife and I have just returned home from one of the most enjoyable weekend breaks we have had for a very long time. We stayed in the royalists suite, which gave us a very comfortable spacious room with so much charm. The restaurant served delicious food. The beef is amazing. I can say with out doubt that this hotel has a level of service unrivalled by most hotels. We have stayed in a lot of hotels in the UK. Looking for that perfect place to spend quality time together. And we have finally found it. The staff in the hotel are very attentive and friendly. The owner, Paul Subbiani. Finds time in his busy schedule to talk with his guests. We will be returning soon. (What a find)

We attended a friend’s wedding at this venue and overall had a fairly good day. The bride and groom seemed happy which was the most important thing however there’s were a few issues that we thought needed improving. At the start of the ceremony (held indoors), the owner was standing in the bar talking very loudly to other staff which seemed somewhat rude, it took some time for him to be quiet. We had children with us and our eldest was provided with a main meal of sausage and mash which was thoughtful however the food was way too salty, even for an adult. Much less salt is required (ideally none) in food for the children. The master of ceremonies sounded very unenthusiastic when announcing the next speech, which seemed to put off some of the speakers. This isn’t a huge deal but with a wedding it is the little touches that make a difference. Generally food was adequate, the vegetarian main was a risotto which was tasty but very loose in consistency so it didn’t look very appetising. The sticky toffee pudding had obviously been out waiting to be served for some time so had formed a crust around the edges. It took 3 hours for for the reception area to be transformed from the dining area to the evening reception area which seemed like a long time.

As I said, the bride and groom seemed to enjoy themselves and that is the most important thing. It seemed however that there are some details which need improving.

Spent a fabulous night here in one of the four postered bedrooms. The food in the historical restaurant was excellent, as were the drinks before and after the meal in the bar. Unfortunately, the hotel is a venue for weddings and the guests of the one held the day visited were a bit noisy - suggest you check before staying for a quieter night - otherwise a great night.

Mums 99th weekend surprise was perfect. I can say that over the years I have stayed in many hotels and the Albrighton Hussey is right up there. What a weekend we’ve just had. From the moment we walked through the door till the time we left nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was wonderful, the staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make her birthday experience perfect. The food was excellent, the service very good and the surroundings charming and steeped in history. The bar was very good and again the staff marvellous. The rooms were very spacious, lovely and clean and a good night sleep was had by all. A hearty breakfast to send us on our way so what more could we want. Thanks to all the team at the Albrighton and hopefully we will come and stay again on her 100th. Robin and Lesley Elliott and Peggy plus Tim (Son).

The Albright Hussey Manor Hotel is an old hotel in Shrewsbury--and it shows. Our room was bizarre to say the least. It was an attic room where it was only possible to stand upright in the very center. On the other hand there was a HUGE bathroom with two sinks, which was nice. Because it was an attic room, the stairs come up right in the middle of the room and the only light switch for the stairs is at the bottom so once you get to the top there is no way to turn off the light so you either have to leave the light on or go back downstairs and go up in the dark. Also the bedside lamps had bulbs of about 10 watts so it would have been impossible to read in bed. Bring your Kindle!
Breakfast was adequate in a very worn room. The hotel may have been grand in a previous era, but now it is resting on its laurels.

My wife and I stayed here for a night while we were visiting Shrewsbury. We found it very comfortable with lots of antique furniture and paintings. The manager and his staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food and service was superb. Breakfast is cooked to order. The only problem we had was that the bedroom was too warm for us and even with the radiator turned off we found it difficult to sleep. Perhaps the management was trying too hard to keep us warm.

Lovely hotel for a weekend getaway or event. I was here for my friends wedding and the staff absolutely bent over backwards to help. The gardens are beautiful and the food is delicious. They even helped me deliver simple practical jokes on the happy couple in the form of a cuddly toy lizard!
