Holiday Inn Preston

The hotel offers the standard Holiday Inn service and rooms. The staff are friendly but I had problems with checking in and room service however eventually it was sorted out. Car parking could be an issue as car park is small. The location is next to bus station and ring road so expect some noise.
Overall a good place to stay in Preston city centre.

Stayed here for one night Friday 7th Oct to attend a cheese & wine tasting. Natalie checked us in and was very polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Room was small but all we needed for one night and the bed was really comfortable. Big thank you to the lady on reception when we checked out this morning (I forgot to get her name) who was running round trying to find the idiot who had parked behind us on double yellow lines which made it really difficult to get out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is attending something in Preston and just needs a room for the night. 👍

Rooms are quite small but fine. Staff friendly and helpful, restaurant is OK and often has reasonable set menu offers. Think twice if you want parking though, the main carpark is tiny - there is an overflow carpark but you have to remove car by 7am as its shared with neighbouring offices.

There is a public car park opposite but its not very convenient.

We stayed a Friday night only so we could attend the game at Deepdale. The ground is 15 minutes walk, strolling, from the hotel and the train station a similar distance the other way. The hotel is well located on the ring road, but with mainly offices and roads by it it will never be described as attractive. However you use a hotel to stay in it, not stand outside looking at it.

Inside it's got everything you need really. The rooms are standard, clean, comfortable bed, reasonable wi-fi, a bar that would do a Lufthansa lounge proud (i.e. more functional than warm), breakfast had the standard selection needed plus porridge was visible, presumably accommodating the group of tourists we saw. ThHat is a good sign as it shows te hotel is altert to customer needs. The staff we met were freindly to a fault, everyone was warm and that's always a plus, and a credit ot the hotel.

My complaint would be there's a lift on the entry area which is actually one floor below reception. I always worry about security in that scenario. The walls are also not too thick so neighbour noise can be heard. It was not a problem for us but I could see it being one. However I am very sure they wold move you if needed without any complaint.

Perfect for a night or two in town, no hassles.

Worth noting Preston Pride was the day after and it looked ot be a good musical time in the town on the Sat night with close off roads and several bandstands. Had we konwn in advance we would have been happy to stay another night in the hotel.

You pretty much know what you're going to get in a Holiday Inn so no real surprises. My room was clean and tidy but a disappointing gap where the fridge should be and although the air con was new and good, it times out so I woke up very warm as it needed to be switched back on.

The service was brilliant - everyone was very friendly and helpful and it's probably the most friendly breakfast service I have encountered.

There is not that much immediately around the hotel but it is a short walk from the main centre. I walked from the train station and it takes about 15 minutes.

I would stay here again.

It is a Holiday Inn, so not exactly full of individual character but no-one would expect that in such a chain. It provides reliably clean and comfortable rooms, is quiet enough and the morning call came through ,cheerfully, at the expected time. The shower did not take too much working out. I did not have a breakfast this time but on my last visit it was a decent buffet.
The position is next door to Preston's famed brutalist bus station if you are interested in either architecture or buses.

This really is a hotel with a mix of good and bad. It looks grim approaching it but inside its actually OK, so don't let that put you off.

First the good. The location is good and the parking was free and easy to access. If the car park is full there is discounted parking very close at just a few pounds a day. Staff were welcoming, the food in the bar was surprisingly good and the bar a nice place to sit. The room is comfortable and clean with a nice sized comfortable bed.

Now the not so good. While the food was good at the bar the choice of drinks was severely limited. It certainly didn't make me feel like staying for a few drinks even though I was in a position to do so. I would find somewhere else to have a business meeting which is a shame as there are some nicely laid out seating areas.

Now the awful. The Internet is crucial to many visitors (like me) and it is absolutely awful. It constantly loses connection and when you do manage to get a connection the speed is laughable. You can pay £5 for 24 hours prime connection. Don't, it really isn't worth it. The connection is no better than the free version.

I did a speed test. 1.75 MB download, 0.07 upload, ping 35. The connection speed is virtually the same in the bar. I tried to have a Skype meeting and in the end had to give up and apologise. Luckily it wasn't too critical and was with someone who was understanding.

The other really annoying thing is there was no plug socket anywhere near the bed. In this day of multiple devices needing charging this was really inconvenient.

Would I stay here again? Only if I bought a laptop rather than a tablet so I could actually get some work done as there are network access points in the room (untested.) If you don't care about Internet access then you would probably have a better time.

Seems to be best hotel in town and is what you would expect from Holiday Inn. Not fancy but a good class business hotel. Nicely decorated rooms, good breakfast and restaurant choices. About 15 mins walk to train station but next to bus station and city centre on door step

Great hotel but shame about the city it seems to be fizzling out. Room was spacious bright and clean and breakfast was great and free parking was a bonus. Preston itself needs an injection of life investment.

stayed on business ,beware very limited parking with you having to park offsite
rooms typical for holiday inn however the bed in my room was terrible, the mattress was well past use and should have been thrown on the tip
bar and food are quite reasonable, breakfast was good the following morning
beware when arriving its easy to miss with the one way

Typical holiday inn other than our allocated room which was tiny.
There wasn't even a table to put our breakfast tray on.
No heated rail in bathroom to dry towels.
I suppose the room will be fine if you are only doing a short overnight stay, but we were staying for a couple of nights.

Central location, nestling close by the 'interesting' architecture of Preston Bus Station and Guildhall.
Interesting room too, with Japanese-style sliding window shutters in place of curtains and comfortable enough, if a little dated.
Very pleasant and helpful staff and good and good-value breakfast, marred only by the dark hot watery and rather unpleasant liquid served as coffee. But that's not particularly unusual in most UK hotels.
All in all, based on our stay, amply deserves a 'very good' rating

Booked here for August Bank Holiday weekend to visit friends who live locally. All staff were a pleasure to meet and the Chef delivered high class food at each request. Yes the view might not be great, but what can be expected from a city centre hotel? Noise levels from traffic were not a problem. The closeness to the amenities more than makes up for that. Rooms a little dated, but clean and tidy.

Absolutely lovely place to stay the staff were all friendly and very helpful and had a good sense of humour. Breakfast was out of this world well and truly worth the price! Very clean too. A big 👍 from me. Also very near and easy to get to night entertainment, restaurants plenty to go too & all friendly. We also spent a day in Blackpool only a twenty odd minutes drive or catch a bus if you don't want to drive. Defiantly worth a visit plenty to do and see..

Pleasant room on the top floor with great views. Comfortable bed. Just what you'd expect.
All the staff were friendly and efficient and seemed pleased to see us - not really like a "chain" hotel at all!
But the star of the show must be the chef. Overall standard of food was excellent at the 1 breakfast and 2 lunches we had - but within that, three real winners:
fresh, real, hand-cut grapefruit segments and fruit salad at breakfast;
good, proper ham in a ham and cheese panini;
and the special of the day wasn't available for our early lunch because he hadn't cooked it yet - a really good sign! Very impressive for a hotel of this sort.
We were really pleased we stayed there.

Helpful friendly welcoming staff making our stay very pleasant. Situated in very near to Preston town centre with limited parking (though there is ample public parking nearby)

We stayed on 7th floor so a bit of traffic noise from the ring road below but nice views across Preston......

The best feature for us was to have a real choice of TWO, yes, two interesting and very tasty vegetarian main courses in the restaurant. (They were NOT the usual vegetarian lasagne or mushroom risotto)

Only downside was our room on the 7th floor, which was a bit tired with scrubby carpets and with peeling veneer on the surface tops.

Recommended.

Although very close to a number of very busy roads and very much in the center of things we found it quiet. We were part of a coach trip to Scotland and it was just an overnight stay. The staff were very helpful and our room was fine with every thing that you would need for a longer stay. The food was very good having both an evening meal and also breakfast. I would use this hotel again.

Me and my boyfriend booked this last minute just to get away for a night, when we arrived our room was a twin very dated really in need of a refurb, when approached Hannah on reception she explained that we had just booked a standard room and there wasn't any double rooms available as she was explaining it to us she was very rude, had a really bad attitude, we ordered room service and the guy that brought it for us came with a smile and could not do enough for us his name was Thomas it was nice to see him and for him to smile as our welcome at reception was not good, we made the most of our stay as much as possible, bathroom very small, couldn't of stayed for more than one night here.

Good points: Central location, parking and good gym facilities.

The rooms are dated it must be said, probably soon due a Holiday Inn makeover, however they were clean and tidy as you'd expect.

I did arrive early and they found me a room with ease which was helpful and appreciated.

The gym facilities have basic equipment but a great view to keep you motivated. It's open until late so there's no excuse to not burn off the days coffee and biscuit intake.

Great to have parking and also a short walk into the centre and St Georges shopping centre.

Breakfast was great, good selection and a nice sized breakfast area.

Staff were helpful, warm and welcoming. Will be staying again when in Preston.

This hotel has the perfect location as guild Hall is literally two streets away .Very clean rooms with everything you need . The next morning we enjoyed a beautiful breakfast. staff were very attentive and friendly . The breakfast really sets you up for the day . A member of the hotel team said in the lift to my daughter "We love this time of year " Special mention to Daniel on reception for all his help with dealing with our booking we managed to get three rooms all together and two rooms interconnecting Many thanks Daniel for all your help .

All the staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Good location. Room was clean and comfortable and perfect for our needs. Included breakfast at check in which was excellent and good value.
The car park is small but we were directed to the over flow car park so not a problem for us.
Would stay there again if in Preston.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn The Ringway Preston during our journey to and from the Isle of Wight.
We had a very warm welcome on arrival, the room was comfortable and clean, evening meals were wonderful and a great selection to choose from. The buffet breakfast had a great selection from which to choose.

Stayed here for two nights business travel and have to say every member of staff I encountered was so nice and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble from the outset of my stay. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Dinner both nights was really enjoyable and my steak was perfectly cooked.

Stayed here 1 night on business, the rooms are as you would expect, clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff were very helpful, the area is a little rough around the edges and the hotel doesn't look plus from the outside, but absolutely no complaints (3rd time I have stayed here on business).
The food is very good - my starter was debatable but probably just my choice, breakfast was excellent as ever.

We had one night at the holiday inn Preston. A nice hotel, the bar looked really nice and the staff were pleasant. Reception on the ball. Parking was a bit of a pain. The room with 2 single beds was snug, and the bathroom tiny. Not enough space for 2 people in my opinion. There was a dinner menu 3 courses for £20. It was first class, I had the sea trout which was exceptional. A very tasty 3 course menu. Staff were really nice to top our dining experience. It's close to the motorways.
