Upstairs Downstairs Tableware Shop - Opening Day

Another glorious Autumn day in Oswestry, with plenty to celebrate. The streets were bustling with smiling people and the Bailey Head and Powis Markets had that thriving hum, which is great to see back.

Upstairs Downstairs opened 'Tableware' a wonderful new shop with everything one could possibly need for breakfast, tea, supper, dinner parties and general happiness. The shop has a lovely, light atmosphere, the perfect setting for the jewel like glass and china, together with napiery, candles and flowers.

It is amazing to think that all this was crammed into the shop next door, which now specialises in the cooking and baking aspects of the kitchen. As usual, Yossi gave me excellent advice on buying a new spice and herb grinder, and judging by the smiling, if exhausted faces of Raine, and the the Upstairs Downstairs team, the hard work has definitely paid off.

It was also Booka Bookshop's 3rd Birthday this week, celebrated in fine style by an evening of crime on Wed, with a trio of crime writers. Again, this is another shop which goes the extra mile, and exceeds expectations in the quality of their book choice, artwork and attention to detail. Happy Third Birthday Booka!

Tonight, as a lovely end to the day, we are off to The Chicken Gallery for a preview of their new Exhibition 'Hounds', which judging from what we sneaked a view of so far, again confirms the undoubted talents in painting, jewellery, fabric art and sculpture that lurks round the Oswestry area.

To round it off, Tapas at Radio. Pretty much a perfect end to a perfect day.
