The Perfect Party Dress at Sissy Blu in Oswestry

A bit of Christmas Cheer.

A few years ago, fed up with constantly wearing black as a staple, I decided to open up to the world of colour and banished the black to the back of the wardrobe with no looking back.  However, when it comes to the business world, black is deemed smart, business-like and efficient.  So come the first 'Evening with the Bestof' at The Walls, came the deep drilling of my wardrobe - to find that the outfit choice came down to (sigh) the LBD or something a tad too light and summery (if colourful).  What I wanted was emphatically not black, suitable for a business evening or business meeting, warm (the temperature that night was freezing) and which could also double up as a Christmas party frock.  In other words, it would need to be multifunctional.

Off to Sissy Blu - where Harriet and Eleanor  the owners, were sweetness and helpfulness incarnate.  Harriet and Eleanor have exquisite taste, verified by the amount of ladies happily buying up their stock.  They  handpicked a range of outfits for me to try, carefully coordinating tops and skirts with belts and shrugs. Most of the outfits were jersey based so tended to flow with your body shape.  As my body shape is the classic pear shape, as well as being short of stature what would have looked great on a taller person, tended to go a bit tenty on me.  However, triumphant success was in sight!  A jersey dress the colour of mulled wine,  with intriguing crochet panel on the back and cowl neck at the front, did all the right things - snug where needed with a lovely soft flair from the hips, falling gently to mid thigh.  As Harriet said, it could be worn either with boots or ballet pumps, over black leggings or lacey grey tights, dressed up with a belt or complemented by a jersey wrap cardigan.

I left a very happy woman - all the boxes ticked and with a sense of delight that I had been advised so honestly and with such charm, and proud that such a lovely and successful shop is among the very Best of Oswestry.
