The Oswestry March against New Supermarket Development
6th March 2010
... Comments

At 11am today, 6th March, over 350 people gathered to march through Oswestry and make their views known on the new supermarket developments.

With a variety of home-made placards and banners armed with drums, tambourines, whistles and a firm intention to keep Oswestry special - and not succumb to supermarket bullying - the march made it's peaceful way through town from the gates of Cae Glas Park, along Church St, up Willow St, through Arthur St, across Bailey Head, down Albion Hill, along Cross Street, up Bailey Street and back to Castle Bank.

The march was peaceful, civilised and was the more powerful for that.

The planning meeting is on the 18th March at the Lion Quays, so it will be interesting to see whether the decision-makers have registered this clear show of public intent.
