Footballers from The New Saints dropped in to surprise some pupils from Woodside Primary School this week.

The pupils, aged between six and ten-years-old  had been busy all morning painting portraits of the footballers as part of a Football Association of Wales (FAW) initiative to celebrate The New Saints winning the Welsh Cup and League title last season.

Players Aeron Edwards, Steve Evans and Alex Darlington were delighted to see their action shots turned into works of art.

Aeron said: “We’ve enjoyed coming down to Woodside today to meet the children and see their artwork, what they’ve achieved is very impressive and they have given us their support for the Champions League qualifiers later this month.”

Jon Phillips of Pippins Designs Ltd, (the Community Arts Partners to the FAW), led the art workshop  and added: “We are delighted to be working with such talented youngsters, their enthusiasm and flair for art really shows through in their work.  It was great that the children were able to meet some of the footballers they were painting, it truly brought their project to life.”

The New Saints face Wingate & Finchley in a pre-season friendly on the 7 July at Park Hall Stadium, kick off at 1pm.
