New Youth Volunteering project for Qube

Alex Drury, Outreach Volunteer officer at Qube is extending her role to become Principle Officer for Qube’s new Youth Volunteering project.

Alex has worked with Qube since October 2010 covering the geographical areas of Wem, Market Drayton and Whitchurch as an Outreach Volunteering Officer.  A successful bid was made to the Flexible Support Fund through Job Centre Plus to provide specific volunteering services to people under 25.

“I am delighted to be working as a Youth Volunteer Officer and my job will be to provide flexible support to young people to get them in to volunteering with the aim of getting them closer towards work. This is a great opportunity for young people to get involved in volunteering and developing work related skills.  Anybody interested should call me at Qube” said Alex Drury, Outreach Volunteering Officer.

The project will also help voluntary organisations to develop volunteering opportunities for young people.  "There are lots of myths about young people and volunteering and I hope to dispel some of these through this project.  Young people can bring new skills and a fresh perspective to organisations and can be a real asset.  Any organisations who would like to know more can contact me anytime" said Alex.

Alex can be contacted at Qube, Oswald Road, Oswestry on 01691 656882 or email  Alex at  a.drury@qube-oca.org.uk or follow us on Twitter @qubeoca and Facebook at Qube Arts.
