A specialist Oswestry computer firm has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Micro Plus Computers, based on Maesbury Road Industrial Estate, is in line for the ‘Best Independent Retailer’ accolade in the PCR Awards 2012.

The company, who are members of The Best of Oswestry, has been chosen from thousands of businesses throughout the country and selected as a finalist based on its product knowledge, product range and customer service.

Previous winners of a major PCR prize, awarded by a national consumer magazine, include John Lewis, Amazon, Microsoft and Acer.

Managing director Chris Innes commented: “We are really proud to have reached the final for this top industry award and of course are hoping that we will lift the title at the presentation ceremony next month.

“The nomination is made by partner companies within the industry so it is a real honour to be nominated, and great recognition for our superb team of staff.”
The company specialises in tailor-made network installations and support contracts for businesses and schools throughout Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales, with recent clients including The Marches School and Newgate Clocks in Oswestry.

Customer, Jim Read, managing director of Newgate Clocks said: “We have used Micro Plus Computers for over six years to supply and support our IT requirements and they have always been efficient and imaginative when it comes to providing us with solutions and their service is excellent.

“We are delighted to see that they have been nationally recognised and nominated for this award for service levels to their customers and we wish them every success in the final.”

Micro Plus Computers has a staff of over 20 and can call on two decades experience in its sector, also providing computer repairs for home users and installations of wireless networks for businesses and local councils.

The company is currently expanding, has added extra repair bays to its workshops and is currently looking for further retail sales staff, computer repair technicians and IT network support staff.

The 2012 winners of the PCR Awards will be announced at a gala evening at the Royal Harden Hotel, Kensington, London, on March 22.
