Kulture Vulture - Oswestry in June

Coo,

Obviously the start of the Great British Summer as the amount of fantastic local events ramps up this week.

For Blues/roots lovers, the Martin Harley Band is on at the Ironworks, supported by our own Mark Morgan and Liverpool’s Dave O’Grady (hopefully the chatterati will give the gig a wide berth and leave the music lovers to enjoy the evening).

For the classics fans – the Oswestry Sinfonia will be raising the rafters at Holy Trinity Church, with “Trumpet and Drums” in a joyful concert of Haydn, Mozart and Saint Saens.

Meanwhile, Kinokulture are spoiling us with a mouth-wateringly tempting tray of goodies in their June Season – The Great Gatsby, Falstaff, I’m so excited – no, I really am excited!

And an early ticket warning (as I missed out on The Audience) they’ve got a live screening of Macbeth, with Kenneth Brannagh in the title role and Alex Kingston – she of Moll Flanders and Dr River Song fame, as the murderous Lady.  I saw Kenneth Brannagh in Henry V, at Stratford in 1984 – I fell for him then and would most happily fall for him again now.  So I will definitely be first in the queue for the tickets and give fair warning of dire calamities falling on anyone who so much rattles a popcorn packet during the event – sweetie!

Father’s Day – do they get breakfast in bed and pressies like on Mother’s Day?  If not – sweep them off down to Park Hall Farm for the Father’s Day Challenge, that’ll get ‘em bouncing.

And that’s just for starters......

Charmed to my boots by Oswestry and the Welsh Marches. I happily do my best to support the fantastic independent shops and businesses in the area through The Best of Oswestry.
