Kickin' up the Autumn Leaves – looking for fungi, feeling groovy!

Come the end of this month, as the clocks go back an hour, we will, like lemmings, rush headlong into the days of darkness, where we draw the curtains against the night, switch on the telly and sofa surf.

So now seems the perfect time to appreciate the beauty of Autumn, go for long leisurely walks in the crisp air, marvel at the jewel like colours of the winter berries and remind ourselves, once more, of what a beautiful area we live in.

There are activities galore on over the coming weekends, not all geared to ghoolish and ghostly gatherings.  Here's a taster of some great things to do:-

For the adventurers:  AP Quad Bikes are running the last two weeks of their popular horse treks through the gorgeous Ceiriog Valley.  In addition they have a special offer on quadbiking and clay pigeon shooting only available through the Best of Oswestry website.

Or if you are more like me (lazy) a pre-prandial yomp along the old tramway from Glyn Ceiriog down to Llanarmon DC, will reward you with a smashing pint of Stonehouse at the West Arms Hotel, and why not stop for lunch while you are there – you can walk the lovely food off on the way back!

Oswestry is surrounded by beautiful countryside, ancient monuments, canals and waterways, all waiting to be explored – so what are you waiting for?

Charmed to my boots by Oswestry and the Welsh Marches. I happily do my best to support the fantastic independent shops and businesses in the area through The Best of Oswestry.
