The country’s foremost baking guru, Dan Lepard, will be making a trip to Shropshire on November 5th for a baking demonstration event organised by Booka Bookshop in Oswestry.

Dan will be holding bread making and cake making and decorating masterclasses at The Walls Restaurant, Oswestry at 11.00am and 2.00pm. The event is timed to coincide with the publication of Lepard’s latest book ‘Short and Sweet’, described as the ‘ultimate baking compendium, collecting together Dan’s best recipes to help you bake cakes, pastries, breads and cookies like never before’.

Carrie Morris from Booka said:
"We’re so looking forward to welcoming Dan to Oswestry for what should be a truly memorable event. He’s the country’s cutting edge baker, with a creative and innovative approach. He’s able to demystify the baker’s art with enthusiasm and pragmatism and will be able to show us how to improve and what to work on. As it will be November 5th, Dan will be using Bonfire Night as a theme."

Speaking about the event Carrie said:
"It’s been a real collaborative event in putting the event together” said Carrie.

“We’ve worked with the Oswestry Food Festival, The Walls Restaurant and Honeysuckle Wholefoods, who will be supplying some of the baking ingredients. As an artisan baker, Dan has been keen to support independent businesses as he looks to promote his latest book – we’re delighted he’s agreed to visit us in Oswestry."

After each baking masterclass, there will be an opportunity to meet Dan and get a signed copy of his book Short and Sweet – “the ideal Christmas present for anyone with an interest and passion for baking” added Carrie.

Tickets for each demonstration are priced £15, and include refreshments and money off the book. They are available from Booka Bookshop (01691 662244 /

The Walls Restaurant is also putting together a lunch menu to complement the event.
