The Oswestry Festival of WORD 2011 is now over and I wanted to take this opportunity to say A BIG THANK YOU to the team of people who make it all happen.

At Oswestry Library, Heather Rodenhurst and Teresa Ecclestone and their team have now run many superb literary events and it's just gets better every time.

Author, Clare Dudman's article: "HOW TO STAGE A SUCCESSFUL LITERARY EVENT" shows just how well their efforts are appreciated.

Not only was Clare Dudman's event SOLD OUT, but so was author Jean Baggott's. Fabulous feedback was received from both events.

Booka Bookshop have firmly established themselves in the heart of Oswestry's literary scene.  Carrie and Tim and the Booka Team have put on some fantastic events like Pym & Pymms, Barbara Mitchelhill and the writing workshop with David Armstrong.

Pam Parish, Senior Librarian for Children and Young People at Shropshire Council, has enthusiastically supported the festival through organising visits to local schools by established authors such as the wonderful Justin Somper, author of the popular Vampirates series.

Local film-making group, Kinokulture, have added a new ingredient this year of film-writing. We had award-winning film-maker Greg Hall come along to introduce his superb film, SSDD; and brilliant show-casing of short films by young people called FADE IN - very inspiring work.

A big thank you too, to Neil McKeown at Oswestry Indoor Market Books, for arranging the Poets' Evening - a great night!

Debbie Glenn (Principal, Stagecoach) and Hazel Davis also launched THE OSWESTRY DRAMA (OD) PROJECT at the festival with their community theatre workshop HONK! - a great success, and we look forward to seeing The OD Project go from strength to strength!

To Sandy Best, Historian, for putting together a fantastic Oswestry Lit Walkabout which many people thoroughly enjoyed!

Laurel, Lindy and the Qube team have worked hard to put on a world-class ALICE IN WONDERLAND Original Illustrations Exhibition along with Comic Strip workshops and more!

Also, to Geoff and Rachael at The Walls for laying out a great set for Matt and Loiusa aka Little Red Bird to kick the festival off with a bang! :)

Thank you to Kirsty Burgoine Web Development for help and support with the website.

AND THE BIGGEST THANKS OF ALL to the people of Oswestry for coming along and enjoying the events which is what the festival is for and makes it's all worthwhile!

Thank you also to the Oswestry Local Joint Committee, Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council, The Attfield Theatre, Qube, Oswestry & Border Counties Advertizer and the Shropshire Star for their kind support.
