Will Sarah Walker from Norwich become PizzaExpress’s Winner of the Create your Pizza Challenge?
If Sarah is successful, her pizza will be the first vegan pizza on the menu of national restaurant chain PizzaExpress.
According to Tesco, pizza is the nation’s favourite food, perhaps explaining why Pizza Express had over 50,000 entries for its “Create your Pizza Challenge” launched in July.
The entries were whittled down to just 5 finalists by a panel of judges including Sunday Times food writer Lucas Hollweg and head chef of PizzaExpress Antonio Romani.
Sarah Walker, from Norwich, is hoping that her Levantia Pizza, made with chick pea and coriander falafels on a base of tahini, matchstick shaped courgettes, chopped garlic and a sprinkling of sesame seeds will win her pizza a place on the PizzaExpress menu that is enjoyed by 6 million customers in 376 restaurants in the UK, and a prize of £5000.
