Norwich to have the tallest Christmas Tree

Norwich is set to get the UK's tallest Christmas tree this year (not sure quite how they know in advance that it will be taller than anywhere else, but that's what we've been told)

The 70 foot tree will be taller than the Forum and will have more than 12,000 lights. The lights will be switched on on 18th November, which is the official date for the Norwich Christmas lights switch on.

The Mall also has a xmas lights switch on at 6.30pm on 11th November  with XFactor's Jamie Archer - more details here.

The tree comes from the Elvedent Estate in Norfolk.

Last year was the first time for Norwich's Forum to have a Christmas tree. At 60 feet, it didn't quite make it for the title of "tallest tree" but this year promises to be different, says Mark Hand of The Forum Trust.

Mark adds that there are over 100 Christmas events in Norwich this year. There will be a vintage carousel on Millenium Plain (I won't mention that last year I dragged my son onto it so that I could have a ride!) and a Victorian Grotto with Santa at Strangers' Hall.
