Norwich City Football Cub Parade

Were you in Norwich on Thursday 13th May?

Did you see the Norwich City Football Club  parade?

The last time I was at a football "celebration" was when Hannover 96 beat Bayern Munich - we'd seen the game, but afterwards it got quite ugly (this was the 70's); there were things being thrown, and police in riot gear; not at all pleasant.

What a contrast to Thursday - the people pressed next to me at the barriers opposite the Mall in Norwich were a family; Grandmother and Grandchildren together.
Am not sure who was the most excited – as the bus slowly pulled into the Castle Meadow with a police escort – although barely moving.
The Grandchildren were waving their flag and blowing on their whistles – not that you’d have noticed with roar and cheers from the crowd. The Grandmother though, was blowing kisses at the players on the bus as it drew level with us.

You could tell from the smiles and laughter of the Norwich players that they were enjoying the occasion; there were waving back (though no kisses being blown that I could see) some had cameras and were filming the crowds.

I wonder how many football chairmen have been applauded as much as Delia Smith was?
It was all very enjoyable and good natured.
