It is best not to ignore your pets this bonfire night. Read the information and tips below to help your pets feel safe:

  1. First of all, please be aware that you are always able to get some advice from your vet. The vet will also be able to refer you to a clinical animal behaviourist if required.

  2. Try to make sure your pets safe. Give them their favourite hiding place with some of their toys in.

  3. Throughout the firework season, it is best to walk your dog and let your cat out during the day.

  4. Be sure you close all windows, doors and curtains to decrease the volume of the fireworks. Also add some background music or the TV on to disgard the firework sound.

  5. Unless they are likely to harm themselves, try to leave your pets alone when they are scared.

  6. Do not punish or hurt your pet when they are showing signs of fear. This will only add to their fear.

  7. Make sure  that your pet is safe in a locked environment during the firework season.

This advice is just the minimum to make your pets feel safe. You as the owner know and understand your pet best!
