As our Norwich Retailer Award shows, more and more people are looking to buy local produce from local businesses to cut down on food miles and keep the money in the local economy.

The winner of the Retailer Award was Goodies Farm Shop, closely followed by Anna's Farm Store - funny how the Norwich farm shops were people's favourites.

When we stopped people in the street last year to ask them to recommend local businesses, Anna's Farm Store was one of the few businesses that was mentioned time and again.

Local Norwich restaurants are also trying to buy local produce wherever possible - Relish, an English Restaurant just outside Norwich at Newton Flotman, goes even further. They take in their neighbours' garden produce to transform it into something divine.

If people are on holiday, they ask Relish to pick their fruit and veg whilst they are away or if they have, for example a quince tree in the garden and don't know what to do with all the fruit - they hand them to Relish who turn it into quince jelly and hand it back in jars.

If you're looking for local organic xmas turkeys, then place your order at Anna's Farm Store.

If you're looking for game, venison or outdoor reared pork, then go to Goodies Farm Shop website for online ordering or visit the Farm Shop to stock up on all your xmas food. Don't forget to try their cafe / Bistro whilst you're their to sample their food straight from their in-house butchers or pop into Relish on your way back for morning coffee, lunch or evening meal.
