I am just starting to think about Christmas and gifts and shopping which is not my forte. So I sort of made a definitive list in my head where I could go. Here are some of our Newark recommended businesses in no particular order for great gift ideas this Christmas.

1/ Baxters – This is a great gift shop near Newark Castle full of inspirational ideas for pressies when getting it right really matters.

2/ Design Works – Run by Sue and Jim Tyler, this is a shop stocked full of designer brands  such as Dar Lighting, NoNo, Swaffers and all ready  for Christmas

3/ Jane Young -  Women travel for miles and come from out of town to buy the very best fashions from this ladies fashion retailer. If you are looking for a luxury present then look no further this fabulous shop on Chain Lane.

4/ Saks – Hair and beauty gift vouchers, always an appreciated Christmas gift.

5/ Paul Saxby Photography – Don’t forget photos of loved ones make a very thoughtful gift and this award-winning photographer has an excellent offer on at the moment for bestofnewark members

6/ Trent Galleries – Paintings by critically acclaimed artists such as Doug Hyde, Rolf Harris, Fabian Perez, Mario Sanzone, Madjid and Duncan MacGregor

7/ Stray’s Books – Buy all your books at Stray’s then nip next door to Stray’s Cafe for the best coffee in Newark

8/ Ambience Interiors -  A wonderful gift shop on Stodman Street where you can spend a good couple of hours browsing and purchasing some wonderful Christmas presents. You can have coffee afterwards, then go to Rushtons Bistro across the road for lunch.

9/ The Hen House – Not forgetting Southwell for gift shops. The Hen House set in delightful cottage- style showrooms near Newark comes highly recommended.

10/ The Barn Gallery – If you are looking for original art by a recommended local artist who is exhibited across the UK then the Barn Gallery in Southwell really is worth a visit. The Christmas exhibition by Peter Dworok is well under way and you could purchase an original gift. These paintings are selling fast.
