Your website as a selling tool.

  1. Always plan what you want your business website to do before you commit to the expense of a developer.
  2. If you are trading online make sure you know which customers you want to deal with as there are different laws that apply when selling to private individuals (“consumers”) as opposed to selling business to business.
  3. Make sure you are not going to infringe data protection law when gathering information through your website.
  4. Only put up adverts on your website that are demonstrably true.
  5. Price information should be clear and things like delivery charges should be clearly stated. Keep prices up to date!
  6. Only use text, photos, images, designs and logos that you have created yourself, or that you own or that you have obtained permission to use.
  7. Always speak to an experienced e-commerce lawyer when seeking advice about trading online.
