The Lichfield Literature Festival takes place this week, starting on Thursday 1st March and finishing on Sunday 4th March. It's full of events, activities and workshops and includes two guided walking history tours of the city with yours truly!

The second of the tours, Victorian Lichfield on Friday 2 March, has already sold out but the first one, on Thursday 1 March at 7.30pm, has still got tickets available. It's all about the printed word, titled 'Writers' Haunts', it tells the story of the libraries, bookshops and printers in Lichfield and some of the pubs and hotels that writers have stayed in - and got drunk in!

The tour will be visiting former libraries on Market Street and Bird Street, pubs on Breadmarket Street and two former printing works on Bird Street. Lasting just over an hour, the tour is gentle walking and a great way to see and appreciate the buildings of the city in the early evening!

Tickets for the tour are priced at £9 per person and available from the Lichfield Festival website: or by ringing 01543 401046.
