Councillor David Leytham, Chairman of Lichfield District Council, said: “I am very much looking forward to my year as chairman. It will be a great honour to represent the district council at the many events and functions that are held throughout the year.
I am especially pleased that it will give myself and my wife Jan a chance to meet people from across the district to find out more about the good works that are going on.
“The charities I will be raising money for are Lichfield Young Carers and Lichfield Arthritis Care.”

A few weeks ago I met up with David and the charming Chairman’s Lady Jan, to find out more about their forthcoming year.
David sees the role as a great honour and is really looking forward to the various functions that are lying ahead of them.
They will be representing Lichfield as Ambassadors across the District and to raise awareness and funds for their chosen charities.
He will also Chair at the council meetings throughout the year, no mean feat when you have 56 councillors plus the cabinet members, where he will put aside his political opinions and act as a mediator only.
As an ex-policeman I am sure David will take it in his stride and we wish them a fantastic year in the chair.
They were particularly excited to have received their official invite to the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace later in the year which will give them plenty of practice in case we have any more Royal visits to Lichfield during the year!
Cllr Leytham took over the role of chairman from Councillor Ken Humphreys. Of the past year, Councillor Ken Humphreys, Chairman of Lichfield District Council from May 2012 to May 2013, said: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be chairman. I’ve had a wonderful year with many and varied highlights.
