The museum’s WW2 Weekend is a celebration and commemoration of the war years, where you can step back in time to an era of make-do-and-mend and bulldog spirit.

During this weekend event, visitors can be transformed by a vintage hairstylist who’ll give you the latest 1940s ‘look’. There’s also lots of vintage clothes, jewellery and accessories to tempt you, plus treats, gifts and crafts in the ‘Black Market Bazaar’.

There’s more to see and do this year than ever before with lots of tasty treats on offer (including BBQ and pulled pork) plus stalls selling all manner of vintage and modern gifts and collectables.

On the day, kids can get involved in children’s art activities making the kind of toys that would have been available to wartime children.

Visit the NAAFI Café for original recipe cakes and treats and relax amongst the fluttering bunting for a real taste of the world as it used to be.

The museum is also delighted to be welcoming French Resistance re-enactors plus the PBI Airborne group, the FJK 44 German re-enactment group, the 101 American group and the C Troup British Airborne re-enactors. These fascinating re-enactors are all bringing along equipment, vehicles and weapons to give a small taste of life in the theatre of war. With lots of vintage military vehicles also attending, this a great way to learn about life for our troops during WW2.

The museum will also be welcoming ponies in the petting zoo, a rifle range, a bar, the fascinating photography and memorabilia displays of local history group ‘You’re probably from Lichfield, Staffs if…’ and the evocative vintage singer Bexi Owen. This is a day out for the whole family. There’s lots of places to sit and enjoy the action and the whole of the museum is wheelchair and buggy friendly.

Finally, the museum is honoured to announce that the WW2 Weekend will be officially opened by Mr Fred Mason, a 2nd North Staffordshire Regiment veteran of the 1944 Battle of Anzio.

The Staffordshire Regiment Museum WW2 Weekend starts at 11am and ends at 6pm. Adults £6, children, senior citizens and concessions £4, family ticket (2 adults and up to 3 children) £20.
