The variety show, which was developed and hosted by long-time Garrick pantomime dame Sam Rabone, was held at the local arts venue on Sunday 15th May. All proceeds, including all tickets and bar sales, as well as generous donations added onto bookings and made on the night, have helped shape the incredible final figure.

Matt Clay, the Garrick’s Interim Executive Manager, said: “All of us at the Garrick are thrilled at the support our audiences have shown to help the people of Ukraine. We are very humbled to play our part in supporting these two vital charities, and that even in these dark times great art and entertainment can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who has supported this event, and to Sam for bringing together such a varied and talented group of artists.”

On the night, Sam was joined by his old panto pal Ben Thornton to host a night full of stars and silliness! Other names on the line-up included Rebecca Keatley and Katy Ashworth from CBeebies, viral TikTok sensation Stage Door Johnny, panto stars George Akid and Maria Conneely, and the hugely talented dancers from SMDA (Sinitta Marie Dance Academy).

Community spirit was at the heart of this event, with local business and supporters filling the bars with live entertainment, photo opportunities, raffles and more.

Patrons who attended the show could not sing the praises of Sam Rabone and the rest of the participants enough! One wrote in saying: “The show was amazing! Wonderful acts, talent and flowed so well. We all enjoyed it so much!”, which another shared on Facebook: “Brilliant afternoon! Well done to everyone involved and all for a great cause!”

Sam said: “Wow, what a special night it was, full of variety and amazing acts. A massive thank you to everyone, at the theatre, all the acts, everyone who donated and contributed, without you it wouldn't have been possible. The show was so much fun, and we hope the audience enjoyed it just as much as we did! And let's hope Lichfield's contribution goes a long way to helping those who need it right now!”

We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended and everyone else who supported the evening. We couldn’t have done it without you!
