The Nutcracker live in Lichfield

Ballet dancers from the State Ballet Academy of Minsk are set to perform the traditional festive tale at Lichfield Garrick from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 November.

Arguably the most popular and famous ballets of the international repertoire since its premiere in 1892, The Nutcracker has enthralled many generations during the pre-Christmas season.

The ballet tells the story of Marie, a rather sad little girl, whose godfather gives her a nutcracker as a present on Christmas Eve. It turns into a prince who invites her on a journey to the Sugar Plum Fairy's realm of sweets.

The State Ballet Academy of Minsk was founded in 1928. The academy’s experience and teaching methods are on par with the achievements of the professional ballet schools like the Moscow Ballet Academy and AJ Vaganova Academy of Saint Petersburg.

Tickets cost from £10, and can be booked online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com or by calling the Box Office on 01543 412121.

Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 November, at 7.30pm

Saturday matinee at 2.30pm

Evenings £20, £18, £10.50 (students)

Matinee £17, £10 (students)
