Rossini’s ever-popular and most famous comic opera, The Barber of Seville, is presented by Swansea City Opera, who make a welcome return to the Lichfield Garrick.

Set in Seville in the late 18th century, a young Spanish nobleman, Count Almaviva, is in love with the beautiful and rich Rosina, ward of the lecherous Doctor Bartolo, who plans his own marriage to her. Along comes the meddling Figaro, the town barber, and suddenly we have all the ingredients for confusion and mayhem.

Beautifully staged in English, with charming traditional 18th century costumes and performed by some of the finest singers and orchestral players in the country, The Barber of Seville makes for a rollicking evening’s entertainment, full of theatrical wit and humour.

The opera includes the famous arias Largo al factotum sung by Figaro and Una voce poco fa sung by Rosina.
