The future development of Lichfield and its surrounding areas.

Every local authority needs a planning framework, to explain where and what type of developments can take place locally in the future.

Lichfield District Council is developing its Core Strategy document, which is part of its emerging Local Development Framework. This is the framework that sets out how the district could be developed between now and 2026.

It hopes to adopt the framework in spring 2012. To make sure the Core Strategy represents the views of local people, the council is once again inviting local people to look at the plans and give their feedback.

The plans include how Lichfield City, Burntwood and villages across the district could be developed – such as housing numbers and locations, transport links, shops, offices, leisure facilities, and much more.

Councillor Neil Roberts, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Development Services, said: “Since we asked everyone to consider our plans and give us their views in winter 2008, we have updated them to reflect the comments we received.

“We now need to know if we have got our revised plans right, and have represented the views of local people well. We hope plenty of people from across the district take this opportunity to have their say.”

To make it easier to see the plans, planning officers will be holding a series of exhibitions across the district. They have announced exhibition dates at Lichfield and Burntwood, and will be promoting rural exhibitions in the near future. Watch out for extra consultations online at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/bigplanningdebate

If anyone cannot make it to one of the exhibitions, there are a number of ways to see the plans and have their say.
