On the 18th August 2017, Ella-May Patey-Round will be flying to Tanzania, South East Africa as part of a team to work in Buyuni One Primary school, helping to develop a sustainable educational environment.
She is working on the ‘Aspire to Africa’ project from the registered charity Aspire Sports Trust who work to transform lives through physical activity. Upon her trip she will be using her sporting expertise to deliver a variety of P.E based activities and classroom educational sessions to help create a lasting education not just for the children but for the teachers as well.
She has chosen to support Aspire Sports Trust due to always having a passion for sport. Ella-May has always been involved in sports from competing to coaching, from reading sports magazines to studying p.e for her degree.
Understanding the importance of sports and education and the impact it has on a child’s development, the children in Tanzania don’t have this privilege due to lack of knowledge experiences and resources. She want to help change this.
Ella-May has a fundraising target of £2000 to raise to help make her trip more worthwhile. This £2000 will enable her to buy sports equipment and educational resources such as text books and stationary to take and leave with the schools community. This will enable them to continue delivering what we as a team have taught them after we have left – giving them that lasting sustainable education environment.
In order to help Ella-May reach this target, she is taking part in a variety of fundraising events over the next 7 months.
She is hosting a Horse Race Night in Kings Heath, she will run in the Great Midlands Fun run on June the 3rd, she will compete in the Pretty Muddy in July, she is also, in June, going to climb the equivalent of Kilimanjaro in 2 sitting!
This mounts up to around 3.5 miles of climbing and a near 30,000 steps!
Ella-May needs your support in reaching this target in any way and she will do as she can to help in return. This may be through donating raffle prizes, helping to advertise her campaign or even a donation to my Virgin Money Giving Page – anything – no matter how big or small it will be hugely appreciated.
