Swan Lake

Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 May, at 7.30pm

Saturday matinee at 2.30pm

One of the best known love stories will be performed by the ever popular Vienna Festival Ballet at the Lichfield Garrick this month.

Lavish costumes, stunning scenery, international stars, and the glorious music from Tchaikovsky make this a night not to be missed.

Swan Lake is the most popular ballet in the world. It's the ballet that captures like no other the full range of human emotions - from hope to despair, from terror to tenderness, from melancholy to ecstasy.

The story centres around Prince Siegfried. While out hunting, the prince meets with a flock of swans led by a queen swan who is under the evil spell of a magician, Baron Rothbart. He falls in love with the queen of the swans and tries to free them all. However, the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Vienna Festival Ballet’s Swan Lake has the glamour of royalty, with the palace and lakeside sets enhancing the experience of ballet’s most popular story. The ballet is one of the greatest love stories, it stands alongside Romeo & Juliet, but with a different twist because only the company producer decides if evil is to triumph over good – or the other way round.

Will Prince Siegfried perish for his love of swan-princess Odette, or will sorcerer Baron Rothbart and his accomplice Odile, impersonating Odette, pay for their trickery? See the ever-popular Vienna Festival Ballet’s ultimate classic to find out.

Swan Lake will run at the theatre from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 May 2012.

Tickets cost from £10, and can be booked at www.lichfieldgarrick.com, or call the Box Office on 01543 412121.
