FREE Loft & Cavity Wall Insulation

Through its Warmer Homes, Greener District initiative, Lichfield District Council, in partnership with Rockwarm, is offering free energy-saving measures to local residents.

Running from January to March 2012, the offer entitles Lichfield District householders the opportunity to get their lofts and cavity walls insulated for free. And, unlike many offers, this is open to all homeowners and private tenants (with their landlord’s consent) - regardless of their age or income.

The free insulation measures will help keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Taking up the offer could save each householder up to £270 on their fuel bill each year, and reduce each household’s carbon emissions by 3,200 tonnes over 25 years.

The offer is running for a limited time, and the work must be booked with the insulation contractor by 31 March 2012, although it can be carried out after this date.

It is open to anyone who owns their own home or rents from a private landlord in Lichfield District, as long as they have permission from their landlord.

The free cavity wall insulation is for all properties up to 120 square meters, with a normal 75mm cavity. The free loft insulation is for all properties up to 80 square meters, which have less than 60mm of insulation already. If a home is bigger, the homeowner would need to pay the difference – which works out at £5 for every extra square metre.

To book a free no obligation home survey by a trained surveyor who can advise you on what level of insulation your home needs, please call the Energy Saving Trust for free on 0800 512 012, quoting the reference ‘Free Lichfield RW’.

·       The free loft and cavity wall insulation offer is being paid for through the government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Targets (CERT) funding, which obliges every energy company in the UK to pay for measures to reduce carbon emissions.

·       Loft insulation could save a household £145 a year on fuel bills

·       Cavity wall insulation could save £110 a year
