Local Lichfield resident, Chrissy Winter, has embarked on the huge challenge of swimming 1,416 lengths to raise money for the charity Aspire.

Aspire holds a yearly swimming challenge to raise money to support people with spinal cord injuries.

Chrissy Winter said: “when I was at an Early Birds swimming session at Friary Grange Leisure Centre, I noticed a leaflet about the Aspire Channel Swim. I am not a strong swimmer, but decided to have a go anyway.

“It’s a really big challenge for me as it is 22 miles - the equivalent of swimming the English Channel over 12 weeks. I am half way across ‘the channel’ and can hardly believe it. Swimming for charity is a big incentive, and I’ve noticed that my swimming is getting stronger each week.”

So far, Chrissy has raised £260 towards her target of £500. To support Chrissy, you can make a donation online at www.justgiving.com/winter-channel-swim.

“I hope to complete my 22 miles by 1 December, and would appreciate all the support I can get to raise money for this vital charity. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the cause so far,” added Chrissy.

We wish Chrissy every success with her swimming challenge!
