Tempest Ford picks the We Love Lichfield Fund as its charity for 2012

Brian Carruthers, Chairman & Chief Executive of Tempest Ford, commented: “At Tempest Ford we try to contribute as much back into the community as we can. We sponsor Lichfield Rugby Club, we took part in last year’s Greenhill Bower, sponsored Lichfield Literature last year and contributed towards The Lichfield Festival this year. Therefore it is an absolute pleasure to get involved with We Love Lichfield Fund. It is an excellent cause.”

The money raised by Tempest Ford in 2012 will be added to the pot, which is already at around £50,000. The money is invested on the stock market, under charity commission guidelines, and the dividends from the fund will then be distributed to local voluntary organisations and groups who apply for a grant in the future.

Simon Price, Patron of the We Love Lichfield Fund, said: “We’re really grateful to Tempest Ford for adding to the funding. We need more businesses to follow their example, as we’re aiming to raise £500,000 by April 2016. This would mean we could give up to £25,000 to community groups and organisations working across the district through small grants every year, making a huge difference locally.”

The We Love Lichfield Fund is backed by the Lichfield Mercury, Arthur Price, Lichfield District Council, Lichfield & District Community & Voluntary Sector Support. It is administered by the Staffordshire Community Foundation. The charity aims to raise money through donations and dormant funds, and, by investing these monies with the foundation, will award grants using the interest earned.
