Limburg Cathedral Girls’ Choir, with conductor Judith Schnell and organist Carsten Igelbrink, will be performing in Lichfield Cathedral as part of a UK tour in October 2011.  The concert will include pieces by Rheinberger and Mendelssohn and takes place on Sunday 9th October at 6pm.  Entrance is free with a retiring collection.

Cathy Lamb, Director of Music at Lichfield Cathedral says “Over the years many musicians from Lichfield have been made warmly welcome in our twin city of Limburg.  We are delighted that we are able to return the favour.  The Limburg girls are staying with Girl Choristers from Lichfield Cathedral School while they are here and we look forward to welcoming them”.

Founded in 1971, Limburg Cathedral Girls’ Choir is one of the oldest such establishments at a German Cathedral. The choir sings monthly services and regularly undertakes tours, visits and other recreational activities.  Recent visits have included Sweden, Austria and Italy.
