The Lichfield Garrick has announced news about its forthcoming summer school workshop aimed at children aged 8 to 16. Award winning theatre company New Old Friends will be host the week long work shop in the Garrick’s Studio Theatre this August. Led by Heather Westwell and Feargus Woods Dunlop the workshop promises to be a week of fun, games and theatrical exploration around the theme of Letters.

Participants will learn how to create memorable characters, how to tell a story, pull it apart and tell it again in a totally new way, and most importantly how to delight an audience. There will be a showing at the end of the week to present what the students have created.

Feargus Woods Dunlop from New Old Friends said: “This is wonderful opportunity to work with young people and draw out their talents and ideas in a fun, accessible but challenging week of work. Youth theatre is so important, the week will be fantastic, but the best creation of the week will be the friendships and memories shared by the group.”

"We love to create our own shows for the Lichfield Garrick. In last year's Christmas show we actually cast an actor who had been part of a youth theatre run by Tim Ford (Lichfield Garrick’s Artistic Director). We are really excited to once again be working at the Lichfield Garrick and we're sure we're going to create a wonderful Summer School company and have a lot of fun” added Feargus.

The week long Summer School Workshop runs at the Lichfield Garrick from Monday 14th to Friday 18th August and costs £150 per child. Sibling discounts are available. Places are limited and are on a first come, first served basis and must be booked through the theatre's box office on 01543 412121 or in person.

New Old Friends create theatre with a desire to entertain the largest audience possible. The company is run by Feargus Woods Dunlop & Heather Westwell. Feargus founded New Old Friends in 2008 after graduating from Bretton Hall, and Heather joined after meeting Feargus following the company's debut show, Mate. Together they have built New Old Friends into a national touring presence producing reliable, engaging, accessible shows that make people laugh.
