If You Were Born After 1960 There Is A 1 in 2 Chance Of Getting Cancer

The Cancer Research UK website states that 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.  Their site also has some good news and that is 50% of people survive cancer for 10 or more years. However, during those years how would you survive financially?

As Financial Advisers we can’t reduce your risk of being diagnosed with cancer or any other critical illness, but we can help you to reduce the financial impact of a diagnosis. Having a lump sum of money paid out at the point of diagnosis will give you more choices.  For example, you will be able to decide if you need to work during treatment or can concentrate on getting well instead.  You could decide to retire early or to provide financial security going forwards you could pay off your mortgage.  Such a lump sum could also go towards paying for additional care or home alterations, as there is no limit to what you spend this money on.  You could even spend it on a holiday to recuperate.

Whatever your reasons are for having a critical illness insurance policy they’re just that – your own personal reasons.

Critical illness insurance policies are designed to payout a lump sum, which is normally tax-free, upon the diagnosis of one of a range of critical illnesses, and the range of illnesses covered can be extensive, but this does depend upon the insurance company you choose.  Getting financial advice from a specialist adviser can be invaluable in selecting the policy that is most suited to your individual circumstances.

These policies can also include life insurance, cover for individuals, couples and even your children.  And, let’s not forget your business.  You can get cover for key people in your business.
