New playground at Hammerwich
Lichfield District Council and Hammerwich Parish Council are working together to deliver a brand new play area on the playing fields at Hospital Road.
The first phase of the building work kicked off this month (March), and includes installing play equipment, such as toddler and junior swings, two play ships, a climbing tower and more, as well as a picnic tables and tree stump seating. It is hoped that this phase will be complete and ready to be played on by the Easter holidays.
The play area is being funded by developer contributions, secured by Lichfield District Council from the development of the Hammerwich Hospital site.
Phase two of the play area, which includes installing a nest swing, wide slide, tunnel, climbing logs and lots more equipment, is expected to start later in the spring, with the full play area open in time for the summer holidays.
